MuscleTech Platinum Advanced Multivitamin Supplement Review

Each serving of MuscleTech Platinum Multivitamin provides your body with a high-potency dose of 20 vitamins and minerals. This is combined with 817 mg of Amino Support Matrix, 536 mg of Herbal Matrix, 50 mg of Enzyme Complex, and 29 mg of Mineral Support Complex.

But with 1667% of your Vitamin B12 RDA per 3 caplet serving, how do you know if this is a safe dose? What if you’re already taking a protein powder with its own multi nutrient complex?

In this review we compare MuscleTech Platinum to two other top-rated multivitamins; Nature Made Multi Complete, and Rainbow Light (Men’s and Women’s). This includes ingredients, dosages, cost per serving, price, and customer feedback from the thousands of reviews on Amazon.

We’ve also added recommendations for the best protein powder to combine with Platinum to balance your vitamin, mineral, Omega-3, probiotic, and protein intake.

MuscleTech Platinum Multivitamin Ingredients

MuscleTech Platinum Multivitamin Ingredients

The main ingredient in the MuscleTech Platinum Multivitamin is vitamin C, with 10,000 IU per serving. According to the National Institutes of Health, this is the maximum recommended daily intake for adults over the age of 19. They also recommend against consuming such high levels of vitamin A if you’re pregnant.

Most other key vitamins and minerals have been added in more moderate doses. This includes 152 mg of calcium to help maintain strong teeth and bones, which is well below the 1,000 mg – 1,300 mg Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA).

Calcium in multivitamins is very much designed to be a top-up to the amount you consume in foods and drinks, such as yogurt and milk. Even the bestselling Alive Max Daily multivitamin from Nature’s Way only contains 237 mg per serving.

In addition to vitamin A and calcium, Platinum Multivitamin contains 100 mcg of vitamin B12. This helps keep the body’s nerve and blood cells healthy, and can help prevent the onset of cognitive decline.

Although the 100 mcg is well above the RDA of 2.4 mcg for most adults, due to the low level of toxicity, the Institute of Medicine has set no upper limit, and higher doses are considered perfectly safe.

Platinum Multivitamin Review Summary

Overall Review Rating

4.5 / 5

So, is MuscleTech's Platinum Multi Vitamin supplement worth buying?

At the time of writing this review, the cost per serving was about average for a daily multivitamin. At around $0.44, it was the same level as Rainbow Light Active Adult, Optimum Nutrition Opti-Men/Women, and GNC Mega Men Sport.

But is this good value for money?

The level of vitamin A is equal to what the Food and Nutrition Board classify as a maximum tolerable intake level (10,000 IU). It's also high in levels of vitamin B12 (100 mcg), where just 2.4 mcg would meet your RDA.

While the added formulas, such as the Amino Support Matrix, do contain ingredients beneficial to health and sports performance, they're in levels far lower than the ones used in studies to prove their effectiveness.

Overall, the levels of vitamins B12 and C are certainly high, but across other vitamins and minerals, we're not sure this qualifies as a 'high-potency' formula.

Opti-Men and Opti-Women from Optimum Nutrition both offer higher levels across almost every vitamin and mineral in the formula, for a slightly lower price than the MuscleTech Platinum Multi Vitamin.
