BSN Creatine DNA is a pure micronized creatine monohydrate supplement, delivering 5g per serving, with 60 servings per 309 g tub and no mention of a ‘loading phase’.
But how does the price per serving compare to other bestselling creatine powders and capsules? Would you get better value for money buying an all-in-one combination of vitamins, BCAAs, and creatine, such as MuscleTech’s Cell Tech?
To find out compared BSN Creatine DNA to 3 of the top rated creatine supplements; Bulk Supplements Creatine, BPI Sports Best Creatine, and MuscleTech Cell Tech. Bulk Supplements is purely creatine monohydrate, while the other two contain creatine blends and a mix of BCAAs.
This review examines the difference in cost and associated strength, size , and recovery benefits. We’ve also included recommendations on the best way to stack BSN Creatine DNA for bodybuilding, CrossFit, powerlifting, and general fitness workouts.
BSN Creatine DNA ingredients
With 5 g of creatine monohydrate per serving, BSN Creatine DNA is using a dose scientifically proven to increase strength.
A study by Volek et al observed a significant increase in strength after 12 weeks of creatine supplementation. This was combined with heavy resistance training, where 25 g of creatine monohydrate was ingested each day for 1 week. A maintenance stage followed, where participants consumed 5 g of creatine per day for the remaining 11 weeks.
At the end of the study, no negative side effects were reported. The creatine group also noticed greater gains in fat-free mass, as well as an extra 8% increase in bench press and squat strength, compared to the placebo group.
But most creatine supplements use the same 5 g dose, so is BSN good value for money?
BSN creatine price comparison
Unfortunately BSN was one of the more expensive creatine monohydrate powders available at time of writing. This was partly attributed to only having a 309 g tub available, with no discount for buying in larger quantities. e.g. 500 g, 1 kg.
Each serving was priced at $0.22, compared to $0.18 for MusclePharm, and $0.10 for Optimum Nutrition Creatine (1 kg tub).
Putting cost aside, BSN has everything you could hope for from a creatine supplement. It’s suitable for vegetarians, unflavored for easy mixing with pre and post-workout drinks, and isolated from other ingredients. This means greater flexibility with timing and dosage if you take a BCAA or L-glutamine supplement, compared to all-in-one muscle builders.

What size is the best value?
With a serving size of 5.15 grams, each tub provides you with 60 servings. Following a recommended dose of 1 serving post-workout, this should last 5 months at 3 workouts per week. For 1 serving pre and post-workout, at 4 workouts per week, this is enough for 6 weeks.
At the time of writing this review, each serving was priced at $0.22. This is excellent value for money, considering the price is the same as Bulk Supplements Creatine.
Save money with Amazon
If you’re looking to save money on your monthly supplement order, you might want to consider the Amazon Subscribe & Save program.
Subscribe & Save allows you to unlock savings of up to 15% on a wide range of sports nutrition products, including BSN Creatine DNA.
You can save 5% with a subscription to 1 product, or save the full 15% by subscribing to 5 products, provided they’re all delivered to the same address. The delivery schedule can be set from monthly, up to once every 6 months.
Although 5 products might sound a lot, if you already supplement with a protein powder, multivitamin, creatine, BCAA, and glutamine, the savings can soon add up. But it’s best to order before you run out of your current supplements, because Amazon set the day of the month each order is sent (same day each month e.g. 14th.).

Review Overview
Overall Review Rating
4 / 5
BSN Creatine DNA is another excellent example of a pure creatine monohydrate supplement. There’s no proprietary blends and you have a scientifically proven 5 gram serving size.
One of the only reasons we gave it a lower rating than creatine from Optimum Nutrition or Integrated Supplements is the higher cost per serving. At the time of writing this review, it was more than twice the price of O.N. (1 kg tub).
The two brands we just mentioned also use Creapure®. This is a form of creatine with fewer impurities and a custom-built lab in Germany where it’s manufactured by AlzChem.
If you do decide to buy BSN Creatine DNA, double check how much creatine you’re getting per serving. Although the Amazon listing shows 5 grams at time of writing, a quick check of their official website shows 3 grams per serving, and the tubs look exactly the same.
Overall it mixes well and has no taste, which is perfect for mixing with a protein shake. But there are cheaper creatine products out there that use a higher quality monohydrate which we believe to be better options (O.N. Creatine Powder, Integrated Supplements).
