MuscleTech Platinum 100% Creatine provides your muscles with 5 g of micronized creatine monohydrate per serving, with no added pre-workout stimulants or aminos. So why is it that MuscleTech’s creatine requires a 3-day loading phase, while MusclePharm’s creatine powder does not, despite having the same basic ingredient?
There’s no doubt that MuscleTech Platinum creatine represents excellent value for money, which is one reason it’s a bestseller on Amazon, with 500+ highly rated reviews.
But does its claim of delivering the world’s most clinically researched micronized creatine really benefit your strength and endurance?
To guarantee you only buy the best creatine, we’ll compare the ingredients, loading phase, recommended dosage, and price to other top rated creatine supplements. This includes BPI Sports Best Creatine, with its advanced creatine blend (6 types of creatine), and Bulk Supplements Creatine Monohydrate Powder, which is currently the most reviewed creatine on Amazon (9000+ reviews).
MuscleTech Platinum Creatine ingredients

The key ingredient in MuscleTech Platinum Creatine is 5 g of creatine monohydrate. This is different to the CreaPure® creatine from AlzChem (found in O.N. Creatine), but still provides all the same strength and endurance benefits.
As an ultra-pure micronized powder, you’re getting a much better price than if the creatine was in capsules. This also means there’s no gelatin, which is commonly used in the creation of the capsule.
No gelatin means Platinum 100% Creatine is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. But how does the price compare to other creatine supplements?
Unfortunately you can only buy Platinum Creatine in a 400 g tub. This makes it impossible to get a discount in the price per serving by buying in bulk.
At the time of writing this review, each serving was priced around $0.13. This is much cheaper than BPI Sports, MusclePharm, and Beast Sports Nutrition, but more expensive companies offering bulk discounts. This includes Optimum Nutrition, NOW Foods, and Bulk Supplements.
Patented creatine delivery system
Iovate Health Sciences is the parenty company behind several leading sports nutrition brands. This includes Hydroxycut, Six Star Pro Nutrition, and MuscleTech.
Although MuscleTech have been tied to a number of supplement patents, the two printed on the tub weren’t directly linked to their research. Patents 5,767,159 and 5,968,544 both relate to methods of increasing creatine supply using a dry, stable powder.
Both patents list Roger Harris as the co-inventor, who has focussed on carbohydrate loading, creatine delivery, and carnosine since 1968. It wasn’t until the 1990’s that creatine loading was studied, and the two patents were filed between 1998 and 1999.

Save money with Amazon
If you’re looking to save money on your monthly supplement order, you might want to consider the Amazon Subscribe & Save program.
Subscribe & Save allows you to unlock savings of up to 15% on a wide range of sports nutrition products, including MuscleTech Platinum Creatine.
You can save 5% with a subscription to 1 product, or save the full 15% by subscribing to 5 products, provided they’re all delivered to the same address. The delivery schedule can be set from monthly, up to once every 6 months.
Although 5 products might sound a lot, if you already supplement with a protein powder, multivitamin, creatine, BCAA, and glutamine, the savings can soon add up. But it’s best to order before you run out of your current supplements, because Amazon set the day of the month each order is sent (same day each month e.g. 14th.).
Who are MuscleTech?
MuscleTech are currently one of the biggest names in fitness and sports nutrition, with products split across their Performance, Essential, SX-7, and Premium Series’.
Performance Series supplements are designed for high intensity workouts and powerful results. This includes many of their biggest names, such as Anabolic Halo, Hydroxycut, Nitro Tech, and Cell Tech. In many cases these supplements are backed by double-blind scientific studies, highlighting the benefits of adding these products to your diet.
With Nitro Tech this can mean significant improvements in lean muscle mass, recovery, performance, and strength. For Hydroxycut, this means CLA stacked with L-Carnitine and Garcinia Indica for advanced weight loss results.
But MuscleTech also have some of the most complex ingredient combinations on the market, making it difficult to decipher exactly what you’re getting. That’s why we recommend taking a look at our MuscleTech supplement guide. This includes a summary of the health benefits, which sizes and flavors are available, and dosages for the main ingredients.
We’ve also added in-depth reviews and comparisons with other top rated nutrition companies, to guarantee you only buy the best supplement for your fitness goals.
Review Overview
Overall Review Rating
4.5 / 5
MuscleTech Platinum 100% Creatine is a simplified version of their Cell Tech supplement, containing 5 g of HPLC-tested monohydrate per serving.
Because it’s a single-ingredient supplement, the cost-per-serving has been kept low. This means it’s able to compete with companies like Optimum Nutrition and Integrated Supplements.
Unfortunately MuscleTech don’t use Creapure® creatine, which is favored for its purity and developed in a custom-built lab by AlzChem in Germany. However, they do provide you with 5 g of micronized creatine monohydrate, which is still clinically proven to increase strength and lean muscle mass.
Overall we would certainly rate Platinum Creatine as a high quality, affordable creatine supplement, which is backed by hundreds of highly rated reviews on Amazon.
But we would still favor Optimum Nutrition, for its cheaper price and higher quality monohydrate. It’s also available in different sized tubs for added convenience, from 150 g up to 2 kg.
