The Bowflex BodyTower combines all of the benefits of a standard pull up and dip tower, with unique EZ-Adjust horizontal bars that create more exercise options and allow you to adjust the intensity of your workouts.

Design features

Bowflex BodyTower

Even with the advancements in modern commercial multi gyms, bodyweight exercises remain one of the most effective ways to build a stronger, well balanced physique.

To support these bodyweight exercises it’s usually necessary to buy a power tower that allows you to perform a range of bodyweight exercises, from pull ups to dips.

The Bowflex BodyTower is amongst the highest rated and most popular towers currently available, with an average of 4.5 out of 5 on shopping sites such as Amazon.

One of the reasons for such a large number of high ratings is its unique design.

Standard power towers will usually provide a wide pull up bar, together with a set of dip handles and a back support.

Some will even provide a set of push up handles attached to the base of the frame, but none give you the option to adjust the height of these dip handles and lumbar support.

By releasing a simple locking pin at the side of the frame, you can adjust the height of the handles to the position that best suits your height and chosen exercise.

The Bowflex BodyTower also helps prevent any unwanted movement when performing your exercises with its large base frame.

Although this means it does take up a bit more floor space than towers such as the Phoenix 99403 or Body Vision PT600, this allows you to perform a greater number of reps with heavier weight.

Chest and tricep workouts

Bowflex BodyTower

Whether you are training for strength, size, or a combination of the two, it’s important to be able to work your muscles from a variety of different angles.

While push ups from the floor are a classic exercise that remains effective for working your chest, triceps, and shoulders, the Bowflex BodyTower allows for several important variations.

With the dip bars set at their lowest position, you can choose to either perform the exercise from an incline or decline position.

Decline push ups can be performed with your feet resting on the lumbar support and hands on the ground, while incline push ups can be performed by gripping the dip handles.

As well as push ups, you can also perform bodyweight, weighted, and assisted dips.

Back and abs workouts

As well as being able to adjust the height of the dip handles, another of the more unique features of the Bowflex BodyTower is the attachment options.

Holes in the pull up bar and dip bar supports allow you to clip on either the single handles or ab slings (both provided) to increase the range of back and core exercises available.

This allows you to include knee raises, leg raises, pull ups, chin ups, and sit ups in your back and ab workouts.

Customer reviews

With dozens of highly rated reviews and a number of questions answered by people who have bought and used the Bowflex BodyTower, Amazon is one of the best places to read about other customers’ experiences with this power tower.

While we always recommend reading through each of these reviews fully, if you are looking for a general summary then we’ve provided this in the lists below.

Pros:

  • Sturdy frame design
  • Well packaged to prevent any damage when being delivered
  • Coating creates a comfortable grip on the pull up and dip handles
  • Easy to assemble
  • Attachments that clip onto the frame are a useful addition for extra exercises
  • Wider range of exercises than most towers

Cons:

  • At its highest setting, the dip bars require you to be facing away from the tower. Some taller users found they hit their head on the pull up bar when facing the workout chart.
  • Shorter than some power towers (77″ compared to the 86″ of the XMark Fitness Power Tower)

Review Overview

Overall Review Rating

4.5 / 5

The EZ-Adjust horizontal bars are really what set the Bowflex BodyTower apart from other power towers, even those at much higher price points.

The hand grips and slings provided are usually only available as extras at an additional cost, and really help to extend the range of exercise options you can perform for your abs and back.

Despite being wider than similar designs, the commercial-grade steel base does an excellent job of keeping you stable and secure throughout your workout.

With a tower-mounted workout placard that demonstrates 8 key exercises, and a guide featuring 10 more, the Bowflex BodyTower is the perfect home fitness solution.
