About the Precor UBK Exercise Bikes
With an attractive design and compact footprint, any one of Precor’s UBK exercise bikes would make the ideal partner to a treadmill or elliptical trainer from their Precision or Energy series.
Alternatively, the club-quality construction and KOPS (Knee Over Pedal Spindle) ensures that your pedal motion remains efficient and injury free, enhancing your performance during each workout and making it an excellent choice as a stand alone piece of fitness equipment.
Each of the three bikes included in this collection also feature touch and telemetry heart rate monitoring, integrated transport wheels, an ergonomically designed saddle with custom polyurethane density for improved riding comfort, and a belt drive resistance system for quieter operation and reduced maintenance.
The resistance levels are also the same throughout the range, with 25 available on each bike.
But the real differences lie in the variety of workout programs and feedback you can expect to track via the console’s selection of electronic readouts.
For a full explanation of what to expect from each bike, comparisons with other models in the UBK range, as well as those at a similar price point, feel free to choose from one of our in-depth reviews below.
Do you have the space for a UBK exercise bike?
One of the major benefits about buying an upright exercise bike is that it’s a lower impact form of exercise compared to running. But it’s also important to consider the differences in floor space that these types of machines can take up.
Upright bikes are traditionally one of the most space efficient items of fitness equipment you can buy, with a footprint that’s smaller than the vast majority of treadmills, EFX trainers, rowing machines, and even recumbent bikes.
That being said, this isn’t one of the lower priced folding bike designs, which means you’ll need to be sure of having plenty of space before you buy.
Precor have made this much easier by teaming up with Icovia to produce their Space Planner tool, which is what we’ve used ourselves to put together the simple yet effective floor plans you can see below.
Each bike requires a space approximately 48″L x 21″W, but you also need to take into account Precor’s recommendation of keeping 40 inches of clear space in all directions around the machine. So if you want to follow their guidelines, you’ll need a space 128″(L) x 101″(W).
The compact footprint of the UBK Upright Bikes makes them ideal for home environments
This is something that’s fairly easy to plot on the Space Planner, which also lets you choose from a wide range of furniture and entertainment options, as well as room layouts in order to recreate a model of your chosen workout location at home.
If you’re wondering how Precor’s UBK collection matches up against similarly priced bikes in terms of its footprint, you’ll be pleased to know that the UBK models are amongst the most compact available.
Some of the high-end upright bikes from Sole Fitness are around 44″(L) x 23″(W), while bikes we compared against in the Life Fitness collection tended to be 43″(L) x 21″(W).
Even if we step out from this price range and start taking a look at some of the popular upright bikes from Schwinn, we can see that their dimensions are also practically identical (41″L x 22″W for the Schwinn 130).
So if space availability isn’t an issue, then how do you go about comparing the bikes in the UBK range with other high quality models from the likes of Sole Fitness, Life Fitness, and Nautilus, as well as other upright bikes in Precor’s own product line? This is where our reviews come in, and you’ll find one available for each bike in the UBK collection listed below.

Precor’s entry level machine into the UBK collection is the UBK 615. Despite the list price being around $1300 less than their top-of-the-line UBK 835, you still have 25 levels of resistance to choose from, ensuring the workouts remain challenging for all physical fitness levels.
The handlebars also offer the same ergonomically moulded design and range of height options as on the models listed above, but you do lose out on the second set of heart rate hand sensors.
This may not be an issue unless you’re used to setting the handlebars to their ‘road’ position, but even then the UBK 615 supports telemetry heart rate monitoring, so you can still receive accurate feedback by wearing a Polar® chest strap. But how does it compare to bikes of a similar price outside Precor’s own UBK collection? Read the full review..
