Bulk Supplements Glucosamine uses a blend known as D-Glucosamine Sulfate Potassium. This has the potential to improve cartilage health and reduce the likelihood of developing joint pain or Osteoarthritis in your knees, hips, and hands.

So why didn’t Bulk Supplements include Methyl Sulfonylmethane (MSM), and how does this impact your results?

As a side note, Bulk Supplements didn’t include MSM in their main Glucosamine supplement like most companies, but they do offer it as a powder that you can buy separately. However, this does mean buying their Glucosamine, MSM, and Chondroitin separately, measuring the dosages and mixing them yourself. That’s compared to taking a few capsules from Doctor’s Best and getting the recommended dose of all three supplements in each serving.

That’s why we’ll be comparing the Bulk Supplements tablets to bestselling glucosamine supplements from Doctor’s Best, Kirkland Signature, and Dr. Tobias. This includes a breakdown of the ingredients and expected health benefits, value for money based on cost per serving, and customer feedback from the thousands of highly rated reviews on Amazon.

Bulk Supplements Glucosamine Ingredients

Bulk Supplements Glucosamine Ingredients

Bulk Supplements is well-known for offering high-volume single-ingredient supplements at discounted prices. This is certainly true of their glucosamine sulfate, which you can buy in sacks of up to 25 kgs, at a cost of less than 3 cents per serving (at time of writing).

Unfortunately this is in powder form, which can be time consuming to measure out and difficult to maintain an accurate daily dose. You’re also not getting any chondroitin sulfate, which most studies recognize is crucial to getting the best results for knee osteoarthritis treatments.

Although the powder is free of soy, yeast, gluten, and additives, it does contain the sulfate form of glucosamine. This is sourced from fish and shellfish, which means Bulk Supplements Glucosamine isn’t suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

DEVA Vegan Glucosamine is a vegetarian alternative that combines 1500 mg of glucosamine hydrochloride (HCL) with 750 mg of MSM. Unfortunately this is without any chondroitin. That’s because chondroitin sulfate is derived from animal cartilage, similar to gelatin.

Several companies have attempted to create a vegetarian alternative, where chondroitin could be sourced from healthy bacteria or algae. Unfortunately these attempts have so far proven too expensive and been discontinued.

What sizes are available?

Bulk Supplements Glucosamine is available in a wide range of sizes, from 100 grams all the way to 25 kgs. But even with a recommended daily dose of 3 servings, the 25 kg bag will last you over 8000 days.

So which size is the perfect balance between practicality and affordability?

At the time of writing this review, we recommend the 1 kg bag. Each serving was priced at $0.04, which gives you 3 grams of glucosamine every day for nearly a year. In comparison, the 100 gram bag was priced at $0.14 per serving.

Save money with Amazon

If you’re looking to save money on your monthly supplement order, you might want to consider the Amazon Subscribe & Save program.

Subscribe & Save allows you to unlock savings of up to 15% on a wide range of sports nutrition products, including Bulk Supplements Glucosamine.

You can save 5% with a subscription to 1 product, or save the full 15% by subscribing to 5 products, provided they’re all delivered to the same address. The delivery schedule can be set from monthly, up to once every 6 months.

Although 5 products might sound a lot, if you already supplement with a protein powder, multivitamin, creatine, BCAA, and glutamine, the savings can soon add up. But it’s best to order before you run out of your current supplements, because Amazon set the day of the month each order is sent (same day each month e.g. 14th.).

Who are Bulk Supplements?

Bulk Supplements products are perfect if you need complete control over the level of ingredients going into your pre-workout, post-workout, and intra-workout nutrition. That’s because they supply over 200 nutritional supplement ingredients to hundreds of thousands of customers and manufacturers.

Whereas companies like MuscleTech create complex combinations of ingredients designed to offer an all-in-one ‘off the shelf’ solution, Bulk Supplements allows you to create your own custom nutrition.

It’s an idea that’s proven incredibly popular, with many of their supplements achieving thousands of positive reviews on Amazon alone. Some of the best include their micronized creatine monohydrate, whey protein powder isolate, and BCAAs.

To find out more about their current product line, we recommend taking a look at our Bulk Supplements buying guide. This includes a summary of the health benefits, which sizes and flavors are available, and dosages for the main ingredients.

Glucosamine Buying Guide

Review Overview

Overall Review Rating

4.5 / 5

Bulk Supplements certainly offers the cheapest glucosamine on the market, with a 1,500 mg dose costing not much more than $0.06 (based on 1 kg bag). But although there are numerous single ingredient supplements that work well on their own (creatine, glutamine, etc.), glucosamine needs to be used in combination to see the best results.

Fortunately Bulk Supplements also sells separate chondroitin sulfate and MSM supplements, but we feel it’s too much hassle to measure out each serving. It becomes even more difficult if you want to split your daily dose to coincide with meals.

Good value for money?

If you’re really on a strict budget or only need a dose of glucosamine sulfate, then Bulk Supplements Glucosamine may be the best option. But for us, we would rather spend more for the convenience of pre-measured ingredients.

At the time of writing this review, 500 g of Bulk Supplements Glucosamine cost $0.07 per serving - enough for 11 months at 1,500 mg/day. The 500 g bag of chondroitin was priced at $0.19 for 1,200 mg, and MSM was priced at $0.03 per gram (500 g bag).

Adding this up, we get $0.29 for all 3 joint health ingredients. Zenwise Labs Joint Support combines the same amount of ingredients, alongside 100 mg of curcumin, 100 mg boswellia, and 25 mg hyaluronic acid for just $0.40 per serving.

As it happens, Bulk Supplements also produce curcumin and hyaluronic acid (HA). With the HA costing $0.04 for 25 mg (10 g bag) and curcumin at $0.05 for 100 mg (50 g bag), you save literally nothing buying the ingredients separately.

In our opinion, if you want a complete joint health supplement we would recommend Zenwise Labs Joint Support, or Doctor’s Best Glucosamine. Don’t try to buy the ingredients separately and measure them. You’ll only waste your time and money.
