AMRAP Nutrition L-Glutamine is a pharmaceutical grade glutamine powder designed to replenish one of your body’s most abundant amino acids after periods of intense exercise.

One of the great benefits of AMRAP’s L-Glutamine is its purity, meaning the 5g of glutamine per serving isn’t mixed with any other pre-workout/post-workout boosters. This makes it suitable for a wide range of sports and exercises, such as running, swimming, cycling, and bodybuilding, where you’re looking to minimize muscle breakdown and optimise recovery after intense physical activity.

But is pure glutamine really the best option for your fitness goals? What’s the difference between supplementing with AMRAP L-Glutamine and a product like HMB (Hydroxy Methylbutyrate), which is a metabolite of another amino acid (L-Leucine) and also assists with protein breakdown?

That’s one of the questions we’ll answer in this review. We’ll also take a closer look at AMRAP as a company, compare their L-Glutamine to other bestselling glutamine products, and provide a quick summary of the customer reviews posted on sites such as Amazon.

AMRAP Nutrition L-Glutamine Ingredients

AMRAP Nutrition L-Glutamine Ingredients

AMRAP Nutrition have packed 5 g of pure L-glutamine into each serving, to help boost muscle recovery post-workout and support new muscle growth.

By providing the glutamine in micronized powder form, this also means there’s no need for capsules. No capsules means no gelatin, which makes the AMRAP product suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

As a post-workout recovery supplement, 5 grams of L-glutamine is an average serving size. A risk assessment published in the Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology found no adverse effects after supplementing with up to 14 grams of glutamine per day. Unfortunately there was insufficient evidence to assess the safety of higher dosages.

Should I buy glutamine powder or a BCAA?

If you’re looking to control your intake of BCAAs and L-glutamine, it could be worth taking a BCAA supplement. Many of them combine branched chain aminos with nonessential and essential aminos to form part of your pre and post-workout nutrition, so it’s important to avoid doubling your dose.

One of the best BCAA supplements to also include glutamine is Scivation Xtend, which was a featured bestseller in our BCAA buying guide.

AMRAP pharmaceutical grade glutamine is manufactured in GMP facilites based in the USA. The powder contains no yeast, dairy, eggs, gluten, soy, wheat, sugar, or preservatives.

Who are AMRAP Nutrition?

Founded in 2012, AMRAP Nutrition (As Many Rounds As Possible) offers a range of nutrition and supplement products designed to gain muscle, lose weight, or maintain current fitness levels.

Some of their current bestsellers include Fish Oil – pharmaceutical grade omega 3 fatty acids combined with EPA and DHA, and Glutamine – an athletic performance enhancer with 5g of L-glutamine per serving.

Unfortunately we were unable to verify any information relating to the sourcing of ingredients or manufacturing facilities. This is typically something that’s published by larger companies, such as Rainbow Light or Centrum.

However, there are hundreds of highly rated reviews on Amazon and no shortage of positive testimonials from health and fitness professionals on their official website.

Glutamine Supplement Buying Guide

Review Overview

Overall Review Rating

3.5 / 5

AMRAP Nutrition is a relatively new supplement company, compared to big brands like Optimum Nutrition and MusclePharm. However, the fact that they only started in 2012 and have already established so many positive reviews is certainly encouraging.

Unfortunately we feel they have let themselves down on the pricing, with a glutamine supplement that’s more than 4 times the cost of Optimum Nutrition, based on cost per serving.

At the time of writing this review, each 200 g tub was priced around $33. This gives a cost per serving of $0.83. At the same time, O.N. is priced at $0.20 for 5 g, based on their 1 kg tub.

However, prices can fluctuate and we’ve got nothing against the quality of AMRAP Glutamine. They follow GMP guidelines and have the customer feedback to support the quality. If the price comes down closer to $8 for their 200 g tub, we would highly recommend it.
