Body Solid EXM1500S
Review rating:
The EXM1500S and G1S are the only two single stack gyms from Body Solid that position the pivot point of the chest press at the base of the frame instead of the top.
Although this has its advantages, you are left with fewer grip positions than models like the BSG10X, and don’t have the choice of multiple starting positions.
However, the weight stack is 15 lbs heavier than the one provided with the entry level BFMG10 home gym, and provides you with a low pulley station that’s completely separate to the main seat. This helps to create a more compact footprint, and allows more than one person to use the gym at the same time.
As with all Body Solid home gyms, the warranty is excellent, and includes lifetime coverage on the frame and cables, as well as the upholstery, grips, and parts, such as pulleys and bushings.
If you like the look of the EXM1500S but would prefer pivoting Press Arms with multiple starting points, we would have to recommend the P1X. It has a similar footprint and uses the same 160 lb weight stack as the EXM1500S, but with a choice of 3 grip positions and an adjustable pivoting Press Arm.
Key features:
- Workout stations: 5
- Dimensions: 36″W x 83″H x 49″D
- Weight included: 160 lbs
- Product weight: 297 lbs
You can find out more about how the EXM1500S compares to other home gyms in the Body Solid collection, as well as the exercise options, customer feedback, and cable attachment/accessory options in our full review.
Body Solid EXM2500S
Review rating:
As the name suggests, the EXM2500S is an upgrade of the earlier 1500S model, with a heavier weight stack (210 lbs), and a wider range of workout stations for upper and lower body exercises.
In fact, you still have the Lat Pull Down, Seated row, Ab Crunch, Leg Developer, and Chest press stations, but now with the addition of a Perfect Pec Station for what usually works out as a $100 difference between the two models.
Provided you have the floor space to accommodate the larger footprint, it certainly makes sense to consider choosing the EXM2500S over the 1500S, as you’re getting more weight to workout with, and more exercises to choose from.
Because this home gym relies on a series of cables and pulleys, you’re also able to increase the exercise variation further with a number of attachments, including a Triceps Rope and Nylon Stirrup Handle.
Key features:
- Workout stations: 6
- Dimensions: 83″H x 51″W x 83″L
- Weight included: 210 lbs
- Product weight: 413 lbs
You can find out more about the exercises that are possible with the EXM2500S in our full review. This is where you can also find more detailed information on the design features, attachment options, and what other customers are saying about the build quality.
Body Solid EXM3000LPS
Review rating:
Taking another step up from the EXM2500S, the EXM3000LPS offers an additional workout station in the form of a horizontal leg press, allowing you to perform more mass building lower body exercises in addition to the isolation exercises made possible by the leg developer.
Despite using an identical 210 lb weight stack to the one used for the chest press and pec fly, due to the setup of the cable pulleys, this converts using a 2:1 ratio for the leg press. The result is that you can actually use up to 420 lbs of resistance when performing leg and calf presses.
As with the earlier two models, various adjustments can be made to the position of the pads to cater for different user heights and body types, making it easier to isolate the muscle groups you’re trying to target.
Because there are so many workout stations, the EXM3000LPS is capable of supporting multiple users. The only minor downside is that there are only two weight stacks, meaning a maximum of two people can be using the weights at any one time.
As with their weights benches, the EXM3000LPS uses a DuraFirm™ Padding for the seats and back supports, which is incredibly durable and tear resistance, as well as being comfortable to workout on.
Key features:
- Workout stations: 7
- Dimensions: 83″H x 73″W x 91″L
- Weight included: 420 lbs
- Product weight: 947 lbs
In our full review we take a closer look at the exercises that are available on each workout station, as well as the warranty and attachment options (including a knee raise attachment that’s perfect for abdominal exercises).
Body Solid G10B
Review rating:
Usually available at a similar price to the EXM3000LPS, the Body Solid G10B is a Bi-Angular gym offering 6 workout stations and multi-directional resistance that reportedly increases muscle interaction by as much as 25%.
The combination of high and low cable pulleys allows you to quickly perform advanced training techniques such as supersets and drop sets for opposing muscle groups. When you complete a set of tricep pushdowns using the high cable, you can switch to the low and immediately begin a set of cable curls.
With the exception of the leg press, the G10B offers all of the same workout stations as the EXM3000S, but with the advantage of a pressing arm that supports both isolateral and bilateral exercises.
The alloy weight stack that’s used to generates the resistance is designed to the same specifications as the EXM2500S, with machine drilled plates and nylon bushings to ensure smooth and quiet movement of the stack throughout the full range of motion.
In terms of warranty, the G10B is one of Body Solid’s Commercial Rated home gyms, meaning the pads, pulleys, cables, frame, and all parts are covered for the life of the equipment.
Key features:
- Workout stations: 6
- Dimensions: 83″H x 119″W x 72″L
- Weight included: 210 lbs
- Product weight: 929 lbs
Body Solid G10B-LP
Review rating:
This is an upgrade of the standard Body Solid G10B, featuring all of the same workout stations but with the addition of a Led Press attachment.
In terms of exercise options, this makes the G10B-LP similar to the EXM3000LPS. But one of the major benefits of buying a Body Solid G Series home gym is that you have a wider range of attachment options, beyond your standard Triceps Rope and handles.
The EXM3000LPS can be expanded with a Vertical Knee Raise attachment and weight stack adapter plates, which essentially allow you to increase the weight by smaller increments than the standard plates in the stack allow.
However, not only can the adapter plates also be used with the G10B-LP, but you can also increase the range of exercise options by adding completely new workout stations. This includes the GIOT Inner and Outer Thigh attachment and GCCA Cable Column attachment. You can even increase the weight stack from 210 lbs to 260 lbs by taking advantage of the 50 lb upgrade.
Because the G10B-LP is a commercial rated Body Solid home gym, a lifetime in-home warranty is included, covering the frame and all parts for as long as you own the equipment.
Key features:
- Workout stations: 7
- Dimensions: 83″H x 119″W x 72″L
- Weight included: 210 lbs
- Product weight: 929 lbs
Body Solid G1S
Review rating:
The Body Solid G1S is a single stack home gym with a number of features that are similar to their EXM1500S model. This includes the same 160 lb weight stack, footprint dimensions, number of workout stations (5), and exercise options.
Even the multi-grip pressing arm uses the same pivoting design from the base, with a contoured adjustable seat to provide additional comfort and promote a natural and healthy posture while lifting.
In fact there’s such little difference between the two designs that even the price is virtually the same (EXM1500S has a list price $10 more than the G1S on the Body Solid site at time of writing).
Despite its compact footprint, having the mid, high, and low cable pulleys, together with an integrated leg developer station means you can still enjoy effective full body workouts without the need for additional equipment.
The low cable can be used with a variety of handle attachments to train the back, biceps, and shoulders from a number of different angles, while the high cable is perfect for building strength, size, and muscle tone in your triceps and back.
Although the G1S is compatible with a range of Body Solid attachments, this is generally limited to the weight stack adapter plates, cable attachments, and GRACK Mounted Accessory Rack. This means it can’t be expanded with new workout stations in the same way the G10B can.
Key features:
- Workout stations: 5
- Dimensions: 83″H x 36″W x 49″L
- Weight included: 160 lbs
- Product weight: 323 lbs
Body Solid G6B
Review rating:
The Body Solid G6B is an earlier version of the G10B, with the main difference being that the leg developer that was its own separate station, is now an attachment to the main seat.
However, there are a number of other subtle improvements that are designed to improve the efficiency of your training, such as the self-aligning, contoured leg extension cuffs. These automatically adjust as you perform each rep, to ensure the weight remains evenly distributed.
In terms of weight capacity, the single selectorized weight stack is fitted with 210 lbs of plates as standard. As your strength improves, you can always increase this to a maximum of 260 lbs with the Body Solid weight stack upgrade.
As with all G Series home gyms, the G6B is compatible with a range of optional workout stations, including the GLP Leg Press, GIOT Inner and Outer Thigh attachment, and GCCA Cable Column.
This makes the G6B an excellent alternative to the larger G10B and B10B-LP models, as you can essentially custom build your home gym system with the attachments that best suit your style of training.
Even if you’re not looking to take advantage of these upgrades straight away, you can still get good use out of the attachments that come as standard. These include a revolving lat bar, straight bar, ankle strap, and triceps strap.
Key features:
- Workout stations: 6
- Dimensions: 84″H x 50″W x 85″L
- Weight included: 210 lbs
- Product weight: 547 lbs
Body Solid SBL460P4
Review rating:
As one Body Solid’s plate loaded home gyms, the SBL460P4 relies on weight plates to create the resistance, but with increased safety thanks to the fixed plane of motion and use of multi-grip handles instead of barbells.
Rated as one of our top 10 home gyms for 2015, the SBL460P4 is fully compatible with Olympic weight plates, which can be used at each of the 4 main workout stations.
Although this is a home gym that requires a lot more floor space than the others, you’re able to use much heavier weights because you’re not restricted by a weight stack.
Another useful feature is that each of the handles offers multiple grip positions, helping you focus on specific areas of a muscle group during each set. You can even pre-load multiple workout stations with the weight you need and perform advanced training techniques, such as drop sets and supersets, and have more than one person using the equipment at the same time.
Despite its size and ability to support much heavier weights, the SBL460P4 is usually available at a similar price to Body Solid’s single stack selectorized models, such as the G2B. The only downside is that you have to set aside some of your budget to buy the weight plates, unless you already have a set at home.
As for the in-home warranty, this is another of Body Solid’s Commercial Rated gym systems, which means the frame and all parts are covered by a lifetime guarantee.
Key features:
- Workout stations: 6
- Dimensions: 84″H x 104″W x 107″L
- Weight included: 0 lbs
- Product weight: 430 lbs
