GNC Mega Men Sport Multivitamin Supplement Review

GNC Mega Men Sport is a multivitamin that provides your body with a daily dose of high potency vitamins and minerals, including 100% of your Bitoin RDA, and 500% of your Vitamin C RDA. This is designed to help support bones and joints, improve muscle function, and support a healthy metabolism.

You’re also getting 150 mg of GNC’s Branch Chain Amino Acid Blend (L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine). This combines with their Creatine Precursor Blend, Sports Blend, and Joint Cushion Support Blend to improve your endurance in the gym and boost post-workout recovery.

But with 3,333% of your Thiamin RDA and 2,500% of your Vitamin B6 RDA in each 2-caplet serving, how do you know if this is a safe dose? What if you’re already taking a large dose of multivitamins because of your choice in protein powder?

In this review we compare Mega Men Sport to two of the best multivitamins for men; Optimum Nutrition Opti-Men, and Rainbow Light Men’s One. Comparisons include the ingredients, dosages, cost per serving, price, and customer feedback from the thousands of reviews on Amazon.

We’ve also added recommendations for the best protein powder to combine with Mega Men Sport. This is so you can maintain a healthy balance between your vitamin, mineral, Omega-3, probiotic, and protein intake.

GNC Mega Men Sport Ingredients

GNC Mega Men Sport Ingredients

GNC Mega Men Sport has high levels of zinc (25 mg) and vitamin D (1600 IU) per serving. To put this in perspective, the bestselling Opti-Men from Optimum Nutrition has just 11 mg of zinc and 1500 IU of vitamin D. The level of vitamin B6 is also high, with both multivitamin supplements containing 50 mg.

Zinc plays an important role in your immune function, with zinc lozenges reducing the effect of the common cold by as much as 40% in one study.

The level of vitamin K in each serving of Mega Men Sport is also high for a multivitamin (80 mcg). This can help maintain healthy levels of blood clotting and bone metabolism.

What sizes are available?

With a serving size of two caplets, each 180-caplet bottle provides you with 90 servings.

At the time of writing this review, each serving was priced at around $0.40, with a full bottle lasting 90 days. This is more expensive than Centrum’s Adults multivitamin (closer to $0.05 per day), but does have a much higher dose of vitamins. You’re also getting muscle recovery benefits from the glutamine and joint support from the MSM.

We always recommend calculating the average cost per serving, across all sizes, before making a final buying decision.

GNC Mega Men Sport Review Summary

Overall Review Rating

4.5 / 5

So, is GNC Mega Men Sport really the best men's multivitamin?

In terms of price, at the time of writing this review, it averaged out at $0.39 per serving, which was similar to Optimum Nutrition Opti-Men.

However, Opti-Men delivers a higher dose of key vitamins and minerals per serving, making the 150-count and 240-count bottles better value for money.

As for the BCAA blend, while it's certainly unusual for a men's multivitamin, it doesn't deliver a high enough dose of each amino to provide much benefit.

For comparison, most pure BCAA supplements deliver closer to 5 g of BCAAs per serving, with 2.5 g of Leucine, 1.25 g of Isoleucine and 1.25 g of Valine. That's more than 30 times the amount you get with Mega Men Sport.

The same could be said of the creatine precursor blend. Although there's plenty of evidence to show creatine boosts muscle endurance, this precursor blend doesn't show as much promise.

Overall, Mega Men Sport has an effective balance of vitamins and minerals that can help boost your overall health. But levels of antioxidants (vitamins C and E) and lower than with the Opti-Men supplement, and the BCAA/creatine precursor blends are unlikely to deliver much of a performance improvement.

Our personal preference would be Opti-Men, but GNC still has a high quality multivitamin that's reasonably priced.
