Dr. Tobias Omega 3 Fish Oil Triple Strength Supplement Review

Dr. Tobias Omega 3 is a triple strength fish oil supplement that provides you with 2,000 mg of fish oil, and a healthy dose of fatty acids; 800 mg of EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid), and 600 mg of DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) per serving (2 capsules).

Each capsule also features an enteric coating, to help increase absorption and maximize the health benefits to your heart, brain, joints, mood & mental state, skin & hair. So with thousands of highly rated reviews on Amazon, what makes it such a popular choice?

In this review we compare Dr. Tobias Omega 3 to two other top-rated fish oil supplements; Kirkland Signature Fish Oil, and BrainPower+ Omega 3 Fish Oil. This includes the ingredients, dosages, price, cost per serving, number of calories, and customer feedback, to ensure you only buy the best Omega 3 supplement for your current diet and health routine.

Dr. Tobias Omega 3 Ingredients

Dr. Tobias Omega 3 Ingredients

You only need to look at the dosage per serving to see why Dr. Tobias Omega 3 is a bestseller. An industry-leading 2000 mg of fish oil results in 800 mg of EPA and 600 mg of DHA. No other supplement comes close to offering this amount of long chain fatty acids.

But is it still affordable? Surely a higher dose means a higher price?

Unfortunately this is true, but you’re not just paying for high levels of omega 3. You’re also getting a supplement that uses molecular distillation to increase purity levels, certified by Labdoor and NSF International – the public health and safety organization.

On balance, the pricing is actually very reasonable, considering the level of ingredients in each capsule.

At the time of writing this review, each serving was priced at $0.32. That’s compared to $0.11 per serving for the Nature Made supplement, which has the same 2000 mg of fish oil, but just 500 mg combined of DHA and EPA. That’s compared to 1400 mg for Dr. Tobias Omega 3.

So how important is a high dose of EPA? Kirkland Signature includes just 125 mg per serving, so why do you need 800 mg?

Health benefits of high-dose DHA and EPA

One scientific study significantly improved Paired Associate Learning and Verbal Recognition Memory scores in healthy adults aged 55 years and over. This was achieved with 900 mg DHA for 24 weeks. No adverse effects were experience, and researchers concluded that 900 mg/day of DHA improved learning and memory function in patients with age-related cognitive decline (ARCD).

A separate open-label pilot study tested the effects of high-dose EPA and DHA supplementation on children with ADHD. This required a dose of 16.2 g EPA/DHA per day for a duration of eight-weeks.

At the end of the study the children’s behavior was reassessed by a psychiatrist, who found significant improvements in behavior. This included an increase in attention span and reduced hyperactivity.

Newly released American Heart Association guidelines also recommend at least 900 mg per day of EPA and DHA, which is an amount shown to benefit mortality rates in patients with coronary disease.

What sizes are available?

With a serving size of 2 softgels, each bottle provides you with either 90 servings. Following the recommended daily dose of 2 softgels, this should be enough to last up to 3 months.

At the time of writing this review, each serving was priced at $0.32. Considering the high level of fish oils and quantity of EPA/DHA, this is excellent value. Only a small number of fish oil supplements contain 2000 mg of fish oil per serving, and they usually only offer 100 to 400 mg of EPA or DHA. (Nature Made Fish Oil, Coromega Omega-3, etc.)
