Nature’s Bounty Fish Oil Ingredients
One of the benefits of Nature’s Best is that you can buy their Omega-3 in a number of different bottle sizes, containing either 120, 180, or 200 rapid release softgels. Multi-pack deals are often available, where you can buy two of the 180-count bottles at a discount.
With 360 softgels and a recommended dose of 1 capsule per day, this also means you have a full 1 year supply. This is much more convenient than missing days or weeks between orders when you need to re-stock. It’s something that can happen with supplements like BodyVega Omega 3, which is only available in a 60-day supply.
So what about value for money?
In terms of cost per serving, you’re not going to find much cheaper than Nature’s Best (Kirkland Signature is more affordable, but with 110 mg less omega-3). But just because a supplement is cheap, doesn’t mean it’s worth buying.
Does this provide enough of the EPA and DHA fatty acids?
Something we found surprising with Nature’s Best Fish Oil is that it doesn’t actually break down the quantities of EPA and DHA on the ingredient label. It simply states that each softgel contains 360 mg of total omega-3 fatty acids.
So is this a high enough dose to experience health benefits?
The American Heart Association’s Nutrition Committee recommends supplementation with 250 to 500 mg of EPA and DHA per day. This is mainly to assist in the prevention of coronary artery disease (CAD), but also to boost the overall health of your cardiovascular system.
So following these guidelines, the Nature’s Best supplement falls right in the middle of their recommendation. The fish oil has also been derived from anchovy, herring, mackerel, and sardine, which are 4 fish found to contain high concentrations of omega-3.

At the time of writing this review, all three are available with exactly the same cost per serving ($0.05). This is unusual for a health supplement, as we’re used to seeing a significant drop in the cost per serving if you order larger quantities (pre-workout powders and glutamine powder for example).

This is part of a plan to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20%, while reducing deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20%.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has set a recommended daily intake of 2 g per day. Some experts have suggested a higher dose of 3 g/day, which is still considered safe by the FDA, but rejected by WHO after considering the sustainability of the fish supply.

Is it worth buying? Nature’s Bounty Fish Oil contains just 360 mg of Omega-3. This includes EPA, DHA, ALA, and other fatty acids, even though you’re getting 1,200 mg of fish oil.
Although that’s slightly more than Kirkland Signature, it’s still one of the lowest doses to come from an Omega-3 supplement. To have such a low ratio of Omega-3 fatty acids to fish oil indicates that most of this has been sourced from anchovies, with a much smaller amount from mackerel and sardines.
That’s because mackerel has nearly twice as much omega-3 as anchovies, with around 2.6 g per 100 g. In comparison, anchovies are closer to 1.4 g per 100 g.
This is reflected in the price, where Nature’s Bounty have one of the cheapest fish oil supplements on the market. At the time of writing this review, each serving cost just $0.05, compared to $0.03 per serving for Kirkland Signature (1,000 mg fish oil, 250 mg EPA + DHA).
