Dymatize ISO 100 Whey Protein provides you with 25 g of protein, 2 g of carbohydrates, 0.5 g of fat, and 120 calories per serving. This combines with 5.5 grams of BCAAs (L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine) to promote muscle protein synthesis and speed your recovery after intense training.

As a gluten-free protein powder, ISO 100 Whey is certainly proving popular, with over 1600 highly rated reviews on Amazon. But is it the right choice for your fitness goals and diet?

In this review we compare ISO 100 Whey to two other top rated whey protein powders; Dymatize Elite Whey, and Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard. This includes the dosages, flavors, price, cost per serving, customer feedback, and ingredients, as well as the profile of essential and nonessential amino acids in each scoop.

We’ve also added recommendations for the best pre-workout, L-Glutamine, and Creatine Monohydrates to combine with ISO 100 Hydrolyzed Whey for maximum results. These supplement stacks are designed for anyone training for bodybuilding, powerlifting, CrossFit, and general fitness.

Dymatize ISO 100 Whey Ingredients

Dymatize ISO 100 Whey Ingredients

The only type of protein found in Dymatize ISO 100 is whey protein isolate, in normal and hydrolyzed forms. Avoiding the use of whey protein concentrate results in a macronutrient profile with lower carbs and virtually zero fat, compared to protein powders like Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey.

As a low-calorie protein powder, it’s perfect for dieting, or if you need a quick and easy way to increase the protein in your diet, with minimal fat and carbs.

So how is hydrolyzed whey isolate different to whey protein concentrate?

There are few studies that compare the two, but one published in the Journal of Applied Physiology found that whey hydrolysate stimulated muscle protein synthesis (MPS) to a greater degree than soy or casein after resistance exercise.

To create the hydrolyzed whey used in Dymatize ISO 100, whey protein isolate was partially broken down using enzymes to break apart the bonds linking amino acids. This is so that the protein digests more quickly than standard whey isolate, which could prove useful post-workout when you’re looking to maximize MPS.

What about the vitamin and mineral content?
In terms of the micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), calcium levels are a little lower than we’re used to, with 10% of your daily value (DV) per scoop. That’s compared to 12% for MusclePharm Combat, and 15% for BSN Syntha-6. Sodium levels are average at 160 mg, which is 7% of your DV.

Dymatize ISO 100 could be one of the best protein powders for anyone watching their cholesterol, with just 10 mg per scoop. That’s well below the 100 mg seen in EAS 100% Pure Whey, and the 35 mg found in Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey.

Other ingredients listed on the label include cocoa powder, salt, natural and artificial flavors, and sucralose, in addition to soy lecithin to boost mixability.

Though not completely free from milk and soy, the fact that it’s lecithins means there’s a lower likelihood of any allergic reaction. We’ve also seen no negative feedback in the reviews on Amazon relating to any lactose intolerance or reaction to the soy.

Protein Powder Buying Guide

Review Overview

Overall Review Rating

4.5 / 5

At the time of writing this review, each serving of Dymatize ISO 100 Whey Isolate was priced at $0.88, based on buying a 5 pound tub of the Birthday Cake flavor. However, the price varies depending on which size and flavor combination you choose.

ISO 100 Whey is a serious competitor to Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard. Although the price was 10 cents more per serving, you’re getting 1 g more protein and 3 g less carbs, with a super low cholesterol level (10 mg vs. 30 mg per serving).

That’s because Dymatize only uses whey protein isolate and hydrolyzed isolate, with no whey protein concentrate. It speeds digestion, but is still expensive for a whey isolate powder.

Isopure Whey Protein Isolate would probably be our preferred choice, but it really comes down to which is cheaper on the day. Both protein powders have a wide range of flavors, 25 grams of protein per serving, super low cholesterol (10 mg), and little to no carbs or fat.

Dymatize ISO 100 Whey also has thousands of highly rated reviews on Amazon, with customers praising the great taste, affordable price, high protein level, low carb level, and how well it mixes in water.

As tends to be the case with protein powders, there are some reviews that gave a lower rating because the customer didn’t like the taste. With such a variety of flavors to choose from, we recommend starting with Gourmet Chocolate or Peanut Butter, as these had the most positive feedback.
