Why buy from LifeSpan?

The LifeSpan Fitness brand was first introduced in 2001, specializing in fitness equipment for the home, gym, and workplace.

Since then LifeSpan have received numerous design awards for their bestselling home treadmills, including the TR1200i and TR4000i. Their equipment has also been featured in leading fitness publications such as Runner’s World and About.com.

By 2011 LifeSpan had branched out into workplace fitness equipment, which included launching their collection of treadmill desks, under-desk treadmills, and even bike desks.

Over the past 15 years LifeSpan have built a reputation for producing high quality fitness equipment, with hundreds of highly rated reviews on Amazon as well as their own website.

Today, PCE Health and Fitness – the maker of LifeSpan products – have their headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, but their range of fitness equipment is available from retailers around the world.

Types of LifeSpan Fitness treadmill desks

LifeSpan treadmill desks are available in a variety of combinations, ranging from the entry-level under-desk model, through to their top-of-the-line electric height adjustable TR5000-DT7.

So how do you decide which combination of desk and treadmill is right for you?

Treadmill bases

  • TR800 Treadmill Base

Designed as an entry-level light-use treadmill for home offices, the LifeSpan TR800 is narrower than the other two treadmill bases, with a walking surface measuring 18″W x 52″L.

Weight capacity is the lowest of the three at 300 lbs, with a 2 HP motor and 2-ply belt that requires more frequent maintenance than the Habasit belt that accompanies the TR5000. 3 hour continuous run time.

  • TR1200 Treadmill Base

Featuring a more powerful 2.25 HP motor, wider 20″W x 50″L walking surface, and higher 350 lb capacity, the LifeSpan TR1200 is their most popular treadmill base. 6 hour continuous run time.

  • TR5000 Treadmill Base

The most powerful of LifeSpan’s desk treadmills, the TR5000 features a 3 HP motor, low-maintenance Habasit belt, and 400 lb capacity. 10 hour continuous run time.

LifeSpan don’t include incline settings with any of their desk treadmills, and they all share the same 0.4-4.0 mph speed range and 6 compression shock desk suspension system.

Desks / Workstations

  • DT3 Console

The only option not to include a desk. With the DT3 you’re only getting the portable console, which is the perfect solution if you already own a height adjustable workstation.

  • DT5 Manual Standing desk

LifeSpan’s most affordable standing desk, the DT5 features a manual height adjustment system with 16 settings to choose from, supporting a users from 4’10” to 6’8″ tall.

  • DT7 Electric Standing Desk

Very similar to the DT5, except now you can control the desk height directly via the console. This also allows you to store up to 2 height settings in memory, and is the best option for multi-user environments, such as offices and family homes.

All desks are Bluetooth enabled for syncing your workout data to the Active Trac app (available for iPhone and Android).

LifeSpan Fitness TR5000-DT7

LifeSpan Fitness TR5000-DT7 Treadmill Desk

Review rating: 5 star review rating
The LifeSpan TR5000-DT7 combines the best of both worlds. Not only do you have LifeSpan’s most powerful under-desk treadmill, but you also have their electric height adjustable DT7 desk.

The ability to store 2 desk height settings in memory makes it the perfect choice for multi-user environments, such as offices and family homes, while the 10 hour continuous run time is the best in its class.

Many of the same high quality components have been included from the TR1200 base, which helps to suppress any noise from the motor and provide a quieter workout experience that lets you focus more on your work.

  • Bluetooth data sync: Yes
  • Tread Belt: 20″W x 50″L
  • Cushioning: 6 compression shocks
  • Height range: 40″ – 53″
  • Height adjustment: Electric
  • Speed: 0.4 – 4.0 mph
  • Weight capacity: 400 lbs
  • Motor: 3 HP
  • Roller: 2.5″
  • Step-up height: 4.6″

In our full review we take a closer look at the full range of design and safety features, as well as your options for professional home assembly, and the level of warranty coverage you can expect. LifeSpan Fitness TR5000-DT5

LifeSpan Fitness TR5000-DT5 Treadmill Desk

Review rating: 5 star review rating
The only difference between this treadmill desk and the model above is that the TR5000-DT5 includes the DT5 desk instead of the DT7. This means the height adjustment is manual and cannot be set or adjusted via the console.

Because you have the same top-of-the-line TR5000 treadmill base, the motor power, belt speed, weight capacity, suspension system, and belt size are all the same as the TR5000-DT7.

Intelli-Step™ and Intelli-Guard™ are included as standard, with a simplified console design that allows you to view all your most important feedback, as well as sync your performance to the Active Trac app via Bluetooth.

  • Bluetooth data sync: Yes
  • Tread Belt: 20″W x 50″L
  • Cushioning: 6 compression shocks
  • Height range: 41″ – 55″
  • Height adjustment: Manual
  • Speed: 0.4 – 4.0 mph
  • Weight capacity: 400 lbs
  • Motor: 3 HP
  • Roller: 2.5″
  • Step-up height: 4.6″

But even though you’ll often save around $200 by choosing the DT5 version over the DT7, does the TR5000-DT5 treadmill desk have enough upgrades to challenge the bestselling TR1200-DT5?

In our full review we walk you through each of the main features, from the belt speed to the suspension system, to help you decide if this model represents the best value for money for you fitness and work goals.

LifeSpan Fitness TR1200-DT7

LifeSpan Fitness TR1200-DT7 Treadmill Desk

Review rating: 5 star review rating
The TR1200 is LifeSpan’s most popular treadmill base, due to its balance of features and affordability. Although some of the features are slightly downgraded from the TR5000, it’s still an excellent medium-use treadmill desk for homes and offices.

Being medium-use simply means the continuous run time has been reduced from 10 hours to 6 hours, which is still twice as long as you get with their entry-level TR800 treadmill base.

The maximum belt speed, step-up height, deck suspension system, and electric desk height adjustment are identical to the TR5000-DT7, with a 25mm/second lift speed that can be controlled straight from the console.

  • Bluetooth data sync: Yes
  • Tread Belt: 20″W x 50″L
  • Cushioning: 6 compression shocks
  • Height range: 40″ – 53″
  • Height adjustment: Electric
  • Speed: 0.4 – 4.0 mph
  • Weight capacity: 350 lbs
  • Motor: 2.25 HP
  • Roller: 2.5″
  • Step-up height: 4.6″

With a more affordable treadmill base, the price when combined with the top-of-the-line DT7 workstation is still less than the price of the TR5000-DT5. But if you don’t need the electric height adjustment, should you save yourself another $200 and opt for the TR1200-DT5 instead?

In our TR1200-DT7 review we take a look at the features that made this one of the most popular treadmill desks in the industry, and one of LifeSpan’s own bestsellers.

LifeSpan Fitness TR1200-DT5

LifeSpan Fitness TR1200-DT5 Treadmill Desk

Review rating: 5 star review rating
As their most popular treadmill desk, the LifeSpan TR1200-DT5 offers the perfect combination of features without the high-end price tag.

The motor power, weight capacity, and continuous run time have all been upgraded since the TR800 treadmill base, and after the TR800-DT5 and TR800-DT7 were discontinued, this is now LifeSpan’s most affordable treadmill desk.

Available in desk widths of 38″ or 48″, the TR1200-DT5 is capable of supporting single and dual monitor setups, with integrated armrests for added comfort and a manual desk height adjustment system.

  • Bluetooth data sync: Yes
  • Tread Belt: 20″W x 50″L
  • Cushioning: 6 compression shocks
  • Height range: 41″ – 55″
  • Height adjustment: Manual
  • Speed: 0.4 – 4.0 mph
  • Weight capacity: 350 lbs
  • Motor: 2.25 HP
  • Roller: 2.5″
  • Step-up height: 4.6″

So is this the best LifeSpan Fitness treadmill desk, or is it worth spending the extra money to buy one of the models with a TR5000 base?

In our full review we take a look at what you can expect from the design and safety features, as well as the benefits offered by the Active Trac fitness app and LifeSpan Club account.

LifeSpan Fitness TR1200-DT3

LifeSpan Fitness TR1200-DT3 Under-Desk Treadmill

Review rating: 4 star review rating
If you already own a height adjustable desk/workstation, you may not need to buy a new desk from LifeSpan as part of their DT5 or DT7 packages. This is when you’ll want to look at the DT3 under-desk version.

You still get the same TR1200 treadmill base as on their bestselling TR1200-DT5 model, as well as a compact and portable version of the display console. This provides feedback on exactly the same feedback metrics as any other LifeSpan treadmill desk console, such as step count, time, distance, and number of calories burned.

Front-mounted transport wheels make it easier to change locations if needed, with a 20″W x 50″L walking surface. If you’re looking for a treadmill base that’s slightly narrower, you might want to start with the TR800-DT3 (18″W x 52″L).

  • Bluetooth data sync: Yes
  • Tread Belt: 20″W x 50″L
  • Cushioning: 6 compression shocks
  • Height range: 0″
  • Height adjustment: No desk
  • Speed: 0.4 – 4.0 mph
  • Weight capacity: 350 lbs
  • Motor: 2.25 HP
  • Roller: 2.5″
  • Step-up height: 4.6″

LifeSpan Fitness TR800-DT7 (Discontinued)

LifeSpan Fitness TR800-DT7 Treadmill Desk

Review rating: 4 star review rating
At the time of writing this guide, the TR800-DT7 was no longer listed on the LifeSpan Fitness website. However, it could still be found on a number of online marketplaces, including Amazon.

Although the TR800 has a slightly weaker motor and lower weight capacity than the TR1200, it’s still an excellent choice for an entry-level, light-use treadmill desk. The only problem is that because it’s now discontinued, finding the TR800-DT7 at a reasonable price isn’t always easy.

The last time we checked we could only find one listing on Amazon, at just under $1,800. We wouldn’t recommend buying at this price. Instead, you can usually pick up the TR800-DT3 treadmill base for around $700 and buy your own desk separately, or invest in one of the more powerful TR1200 or TR5000 versions.

  • Bluetooth data sync: Yes
  • Tread Belt: 18″W x 52″L
  • Cushioning: 6 compression shocks
  • Height range: 40″ – 53″
  • Height adjustment: Electric
  • Speed: 0.4 – 4.0 mph
  • Weight capacity: 300 lbs
  • Motor: 2 HP
  • Roller: 2.5″
  • Step-up height: 5″

Unfortunately this wasn’t one of the treadmill desks LifeSpan chose to redesign for their 2016 collection, but if you’re interested in finding out more about its features, the link below will take you to our full review.

LifeSpan Fitness TR800-DT5 (Discontinued)

LifeSpan Fitness TR800-DT5 Treadmill Desk

Review rating: 3.5 star review rating
As with the DT7 version above, the TR800-DT5 treadmill desk has been discontinued by LifeSpan, and is no longer listed on their website. It’s also becoming more difficult to find through online marketplaces such as Amazon, whose listing showed ‘currently unavailable’ at time of writing.

Although there’s often a $300 price difference between the TR1200-DT3 and TR800-DT3 treadmill bases, it’s unlikely that you would be able to find such a deal on the DT5 version. As mentioned above, because the TR800-DT7 was discontinued on the LifeSpan website, we were only able to find a listing on Amazon for around the same price as their top-of-the-line TR5000-DT5 treadmill desk.

In our opinion you have two options. Either purchase the upgraded and bestselling TR1200-DT5 model, or only purchase the TR800-DT3 under-desk treadmill. You could then combine the DT3 with an existing desk and VariDesk workstation, or a fully height adjustable desk.

  • Bluetooth data sync: Yes
  • Tread Belt: 18″W x 52″L
  • Cushioning: 6 compression shocks
  • Height range: 41″ – 55″
  • Height adjustment: Manual
  • Speed: 0.4 – 4.0 mph
  • Weight capacity: 300 lbs
  • Motor: 2 HP
  • Roller: 2.5″
  • Step-up height: 5″

It’s unlikely that LifeSpan will start selling the TR800-DT5 treadmill desk on their website again, at least not without a redesign similar to the one we saw on the TR1200 and TR5000 collections in 2016.

But if you’re still interested in buying this model, we’ve added links below that take you through to our full review, as well as the product listing page on Amazon in case it becomes available.

LifeSpan Fitness TR800-DT3

LifeSpan Fitness TR800-DT3 Under-Desk Treadmill

Review rating: 4.5 star review rating
As LifeSpan’s most affordable under-desk treadmill, the TR800-DT3 is a cut down version of their bestselling TR1200 treadmill base. The result is a slightly less powerful motor, lower weight capacity, and narrower walking surface.

As with the TR1200-DT3 and TR5000-DT3 models you don’t get the actual treadmill desk, just the base and a console. But the console features are still the same as on their DT5 desks, with Bluetooth connectivity for data sync to the Active Trac app.

If you’re looking for a compact under-desk treadmill with a high overall build quality from a company with more than 15 years experience in the industry, the TR800-DT3 is an excellent choice.

  • Bluetooth data sync: Yes
  • Tread Belt: 18″W x 52″L
  • Cushioning: 6 compression shocks
  • Height range: 0″
  • Height adjustment: No desk
  • Speed: 0.4 – 4.0 mph
  • Weight capacity: 300 lbs
  • Motor: 2 HP
  • Roller: 2.5″
  • Step-up height: 5″

To find out how it measures up to other LifeSpan Fitness treadmill desks, as well as some options for height adjustable workstations you can combine it with, it’s worth taking a look at our full review.
