We’re spending more and more time on our devices and moving less and less. The sensationalized fitness goal of 10 000 steps a day has never seemed so far away…Or has it?
The WALK-i-TASK adjustable treadmill desk is marketed as an affordable way to increase your movement and task productivity simultaneously.
We take a look at this treadmill desk attachment’s design features and weigh up the pros and cons. Keep reading to find out if it’s a good addition to your home.
Before we jump straight into the benefits of this adjustable treadmill desk, we look at the design features and how it measures up against general standards.
Frame & material
The WALK-i-TASK is made from aluminum and features adjustable arm clamps on each side. The product felt sturdy and secure, yet was light enough to lift and attach to our NordicTrack treadmill without difficulty.
We loved the width of the desk as it meant we could have more than just a laptop on it. We could also put a notebook, snack, and phone on it without it being too cluttered. Keep in mind though that the desk can only take up to nine pounds of weight.
It comprises two platforms; the top “shelf” is the one you rest your laptop on.
To secure the attachment to the treadmill, we just tightened the padded arm clamp screws until the screw bumpers pressed against the bottom of the walk I task treadmill’s arms.
One of the characteristics that put the WALK-i-TASK review up there with the best treadmill desk attachments is its adjustability. We could easily adjust the desk to different heights and angles.
This is thanks to the knob at the front of the attachment and the two dials on the side arm clamps.
We used the WALK-i-TASK attachment on our NordicTrack treadmill. We found that all our reviewers (of differing heights) could use the desk attachment with their own laptops, without having to hunch over or compromise posture.
It was also easy to change the height. You just turn the knob at the front of the attachment to lower and raise the desk.
In terms of the angle, you can change it by using the knobs on the arm clamp’s sides. This is great if you want to read or watch a video on your phone. There is even a ridge to stop your device or book from falling off.
Fits various Walk I Task treadmill brands
The portable desk attachment features an innovative and ergonomic design that is compatible with most treadmill brands, such as NordicTrack and Sole Fitness.
The WALK-i-TASK review can fit treadmill arm widths between 30.5” and 40” wide. The desk’s side arm clamps adjust to fit handrail thickness between 1.75” and 5.5”.
If you need a hand with the fitting, check out their fit guide or hop onto their live chat.
If you’ve had a few laptops, you’ll know the pains that come with overheating. Decreased laptop speed, work interruptions, and laptop resets are just a few of the consequences.
The founders of WALK-i-TASK added a ventilation solution to prevent devices from overheating. The desk features sleek branded ventilation holes to allow for maximum airflow to the bottom of your device.
Ease of use & comfort
There’s no learning curve for using the WALK-i-TASK. It comes fully assembled and ready to be attached to your treadmill.
You just tighten the side arm clamp screws to secure it to your treadmill. For height adjustments, you simply turn the knob on the front to the left and right.
It’s also really quick to attach and detach so you can go from walking and working during office hours, to your post-work workout in just minutes.
The desk even offers a comfortable rubber pad on the top platform to rest your wrists.
A small disadvantage to note is that depending on where your speed controls are on your treadmill, you may have to do some fiddling to change speed while using the desk attachment.
If your speed controls are based near the front console, you may need to lower your laptop lid to reach them. It’s more convenient if you have speed and incline controls on your treadmill’s arms.

Desk attachment for treadmill: 10 000 Steps made easy
The WALK-i-TASK adjustable treadmill desk attachment was launched in December 2021 as a nifty solution to the digital-era-specific issue of the sedentary lifestyle.
With so many of us working on our laptops and hunching over our devices for entertainment, individual wellness, in terms of physical and mental health, is deteriorating.
The WALK-i-TASK is designed to help you find the balance between optimal work efficiency, entertainment, and health. Sitting all day has negative effects that range from weight gain, increased blood pressure, heightened blood sugar, unhealthy cholesterol, and more.
The American Heart Association, along with many fitness gurus and influencers, recommends we hit 10 000 steps a day for good health and to counteract the negative effects of lack of movement.
Here are the different ways this desk attachment can bolster your health.
This treadmill attachment provides a convenient way for you to get your steps in no matter if it’s raining, snowing, blistering hot, or freezing cold. You can get walking from the comfort of your own home…No excuses.
Daily walks can help you to:
- Prevent weight gain
- Boost the immune system
- Bolster stress relief and mood management
- Reduce the risk of Diabetes
Exercise is often touted as a natural anti-depressant, and with good reason. Studies show that exercise can help to treat depression effectively, without the side effects that come with some medications.
People of all ages and levels of fitness can use exercise as a means to improve their energy, outlook, attitude, and enjoyment of life.
Some symptoms of a sedentary, tied-to-your-desk lifestyle include lower back pain, “computer hunch” problems, and a shorter life span.
The WALK-i-TASK answers the above problems by providing a more active way to work. It is also adjustable so you don’t need to hunch or slip into a bad posture to use it.
Walking is a low-impact form of exercise that can be beneficial for people who experience back pain. Walking increases spine stability while conditioning the muscles that stabilize you when you’re upright.
Sedentary living contributes to weight gain and health problems. Walking is excellent as a means of weight control as it helps you to burn calories. The more you walk, the more you burn.
The WALK-i-TASK is a great addition to a weight management tool kit because you can walk while you work, stream, or read a book.
Two hours of working and walking translates to 360 calories burned, as opposed to approximately 180 calories burned while sitting.
1.5 hours reading a book could mean the difference between 270 calories burned with the WALK-i-TASK compared to 108 calories burned at rest.
WALK-i-TASK employee wellness perks
With remote work on the up and up, companies face new challenges in the realm of employee wellness. Unhealthy employees can cost organizations thousands.
Employees with bad health lead to higher absenteeism levels, lower productivity, and higher healthcare costs. But, how can organizations address this when employees are working from home?
WALK-i-TASK is also geared towards corporates. The co-founders Jordan and Chris Fischer, strongly believe that this fitness resource is a holy grail for employee wellness as it creates a win-win situation for employees and employers.
The treadmill desk makes exercise both productive and fun. And, when exercise is fun, it’s more likely that an individual will stick to it.
Companies can subsidize the costs or sponsor WALK-i-TASK’s for their employees.
Companies with healthy employees achieve:
- Reduction in healthcare costs
- Decrease in absenteeism
- Improvement in productivity and morale
- Improved talent retention
- Reduction in poor lifestyle risks
