Currently ranked as one of the bestselling designs in its category, the Confidence GTR Power Pro treadmill is an entry level machine with 12 preset workout programs to choose from.
It’s these workout programs that we wanted to take a closer look at in this review, as well as the design features, display console functions, and customer reviews.
If you’re looking for a treadmill to use at home but don’t have thousands of dollars to spend, the chances are you would have come across the range of treadmills from Confidence Fitness.
Ranking amongst the top 20 bestselling treadmills for over a year now, these 2 machines have collected over 500 customer reviews between them, while maintaining some impressive average ratings.
Although the Confidence GTR Power Pro is the slightly higher priced of the two, this does have the benefit of providing a range of manual incline positions.
Due to the fact that this is a lower priced treadmill, there will inevitably be some sacrifices that have to be made in terms of running area and the cushioning system under the running deck.
Measuring 43.5″ (L) by 15.75″ (W), this is far from the smallest running area we’ve come across, but it is a long way from some of the ProForm or Precor models, which can measure up to 60 inches in length.
This doesn’t strictly affect the quality of your running experience, but it can be restrictive for taller users (6ft+) who are unable to build up to their natural running stride.
One final important feature to mention is that the GTR Power Pro features a folding design.
Where many higher priced designs only allow the running deck to be folded to around a 70 degree angle, the Power Pro folds completely vertically, helping you make the most of limited space.
Weighing in at just 68 lbs, this also makes it much easier to move around if required.

Display console design
The main goal behind the design of the Confidence GTR Power Pro is to provide a treadmill that covers all the basics, without the optional extras that can often push up the price.
This can be seen in the design of the display console, where the LCD screen and button functions are probably slightly more limited than what you might be used to.
You do still have the safety key and storage areas for water bottles or your MP3 player, but you have to sacrifice the storage shelf for tablets, quick select button functions for the incline, speakers, and a cooling fan.
Essentially these are all considered nice features to have, and although they can have a big impact on the enjoyment of your workouts, aren’t considered necessities.
Although they don’t provide the same range of options as on higher priced treadmills, you do actually have 3 quick select speed settings to choose from; 3km/h, 5km/h, and 7km/h.
These are ideal for when you want to quickly increase the speed by larger increments than the arrows on the console or hand rails can offer.
The LCD screen provides constant feedback on your most important workout information, including time, distance, speed, and calories burned.
Despite its low price, there’s also an option to switch between the 12 preset workout programs programmed into the on-board computer.
Even after making the decision to buy a treadmill, it can be difficult to motivate yourself to keep running on a regular basis.
As well as putting together a basic workout plan and scheduling time each week to workout, one of the best ways to stay motivated and see consistent results is by varying your workout program.
To make this easier, the Confidence GTR Power Pro provides you with 12 preset training programs, each with a 30 minute duration and each split into 20 segments.
To cater for different fitness levels, each program uses a different combination of speeds across these 20 segments, which also helps to provide a more varied cardiovascular workout.
Due to being a manual treadmill, these programs only adjust the speed and not the incline automatically.
But if you do want to increase the intensity, all you need to do is adjust incline setting before you step on the running belt and select a program.
Ease of assembly
If you’ve purchased a larger item of fitness equipment in the past, such as an elliptical or multi gym, you’ll realise how complicated the assembly can be.
Even with a clearly written set of instructions, diagrams, and parts lists, it can often take hours to get the machine setup and start enjoying your first workout.
You’ll be pleased to hear this isn’t the case with the Confidence GTR Power Pro.
In fact, the assembly instructions take up just one page of the user manual.
This isn’t to say that they overlook important assembly steps or are difficult to understand, it’s just that the bulk of the assembly is already done for you when you take all of the parts out of the box.
All that’s required is to attach a couple of locking screws, then mount the hand rail and control panel.
The running deck, running belt, and hand rail supports arrive pre-assembled, resulting in a total assembly time of less than 30 minutes.
How much maintenance is required?
Once you have your new treadmill all setup and you’re starting to get used to the workouts, you’re typically going to want to ensure the machine lasts as long as possible.
As well as helping to increase the lifespan of the Confidence GTR Power Pro, regular maintenance will help to ensure you get the best value for money.
The user manual actually does an excellent job of listing a few troubleshooting issues and their solutions, as well as providing a guide to the maintenance that’s required.
There’s really nothing out of the ordinary here for a treadmill at this price range, with regular cleaning, lubricating the running belt every other month, and adjusting the running belt all required to keep the machine running smoothly.
Even with all of the pictures and reviews available, it still pays to have a quick read through the customer reviews on ecommerce sites to make sure you’re aware of all the pros and cons before buying.
One of the most reliable sources for reviews we’ve come across is Amazon, who also happen to have a large collection of answered questions.
These are essentially questions that people ask prior to buying, that are then answered by people who have already purchased this treadmill.
To act as a quick reference guide to the points raised in these reviews, we’ve put together the following lists of pros and cons.
