The ProForm Power 995c Treadmill has been designed with both comfort and effective workouts in mind, with its ProShox running deck and compatibility with iFit.
This product article takes a look at the treadmill in more detail, including the iFit options, workout programs, customer reviews, and safety features to help you decide if this will be the best fit for your own home gym.
Design features
One of the main benefits to the ProForm Power 995c treadmill is the design of the running deck.
It is widely recognised that many years of running outside a few times each week can cause problems with knee and hip joints due to the high impact nature of the exercise.
The ProShox running deck helps to reduce this by as much as 28%, making for a more comfortable running experience.
To provide constant power to the running deck even during sprints and interval training, the ProForm Power 995c has also been fitted with a powerful 3.0 CHP commercial motor.
This helps to cool the internal components while you workout on the extra large 20″ x 60″ running area, increasing the life of the drive system.
Finding a treadmill with this size running area is obviously a bonus for anyone looking for more space to run in, but crucial for taller users over 6ft.
Having a naturally longer stride length means that treadmills with a running area much shorter than 60″ won’t allow you to get up to a full sprint without risking your feet drifting off the back of the machine.
Safety features
As well as being excellent for taller users, the ProForm 995c also features a number of useful safety features, the most important of which is the safety key.
The safety key is a simple clip that is meant for one end to be attached to the display console, and the other attached to an item of your clothing.
This way, if you move too far away from the display console, such as in the event of a trip or fall, the clip will pull out from the display console and the running belt will quickly slow to a stop.
For more convenient storage and transport, the running deck can actually be folded up and locked in place until your next workout, with wheels attached to the base to move the machine if needed.

Ease of assembly
Despite the detailed step-by-step instructions, one of the most common reasons for lower rated customer reviews was the difficulty of assembly.
The running deck itself comes pre-assembled, but is heavy so you will want to make sure you have enough room to setup the ProForm Power 995c in the room where it will be used.
With 16 instructions to follow, mainly relating to how to setup the display console support, there is still a fair amount of assembly still to do.
Although there’s a few more complicated steps than for the Sole Fitness treadmills, once it’s setup what you have is a high quality treadmill that provides a large and stable running surface.
Due to the heavy lifting required and difficulty with completing some steps, many reviewers recommend professional assembly and setup rather than assembling it yourself.
If you do choose to setup the treadmill yourself, total setup time can vary between 1 to 3 hours.
Workout programs
If you are looking for a treadmill with a wide variety of possible workout programs, the ProForm Power 995c is one of the best available.
While the display console does include a range of preset workout options, what really sets this treadmill above similar machines is the compatibility with iFit.
iFit is an optional module that you can buy at any time by visiting the iFit website after you buy the treadmill. As well as the basic technical requirements of having a wireless network connection, this also requires you to have an iFit.com membership.
Although the module does automatically download workout data to your computer for review after each session, at just under $100 it is an additional expense worth thinking about.
Once you have bought the iFit module, you have the option of downloading some of the free workouts, or some of the paid for options depending on your preference.
In our opinion, it’s worth taking a look at the iFit website at the programs available before buying the main treadmill or iFit module. This should help to determine exactly how much use you will get out of the ProForm Power 995c if you were to buy.
Even without signing up to iFit and using their workout options, you still have a number of different preset profiles to choose from, including the ‘set-a-goal’ options.
‘Set-a-goal’ allows you to set the number of calories you want to burn, time you want to spend running, or distance you want to run for before you start the belt moving.
The screen then shows that particular piece of workout information counting down towards your particular goal.
Display console design
An important but often overlooked part of any treadmill design is the display console.
While it’s important for the running deck and belt to provide a smooth running motion, the display console is where you will have the most interaction during your workouts.
Fortunately, it’s clear that ProForm have put a lot of thought into making sure the display console for the Power 995c not only looks good, but is also clear and intuitive to use.
The main display offers 3 main rows of controls, one to operate the iFit workout options, and two rows of quick select buttons; one for the incline setting and one for the speed setting.
While these quick select options are ideal if you enjoy interval training, if you want to make smaller adjustments then you also have the standard up and down arrows positioned closer to you, just above the fan.
The 7″ backlit display screen is a similar style to those found on the higher priced ProForm ellipticals, designed to help you keep track of all the most important workout information.
This includes a matrix that represents 1/4 mile track, calories burned, time, distance, speed, heart rate, and workout instructions.
There’s also plenty of storage space in the recesses on either side for your MP3 player or water bottle, and a CoolAire Workout Fan to help keep you cool during your workouts.
Customer reviews
Despite its popularity on shopping sites such as Amazon, the ProForm Power 995c treadmill actually seems to receive mixed reviews from customers who made the decision to buy.
Although the majority of reviews are rated either 4 or the full 5 stars, it’s important to also take into account any problems people came across once they started using the machine.
While we always recommend reading as many of these reviews as possible, we’ve also collected the most frequently mentioned pros and cons from the reviews and listed them as a summary below.

Review Overview
Overall Review Rating
4 / 5
Often available for less than $800, the ProForm Power 995c includes many of the features you would expect to find on higher priced commercial style treadmills.
The 30 built-in workout apps designed by a Certified Personal Trainer offer variety and motivation, while the QuickSpeed and Incline Controls allow you to adjust your training without losing focus.
If you think you'll want to use the iFit module and downloadable workout programs, then this is an excellent option to have. Although there is a one-off payment for the module of $99, the majority of paid workout programs are available for between $1 and $3.
