XMark Fitness are a company that focus entirely on developing high quality, affordable strength training equipment for use in home gyms.

This includes everything from dumbbells and Power Towers to ultra thick protective flooring and coated Olympic weight plates. But it’s their versatile and varied collection of workout benches that we wanted to focus on in this buyer’s guide.

The only problem is, with over 25 different models to choose from (not including their preacher curl, abdominal, and hyperextension benches), how do you know which design really offers the best balance of weight capacity, incline settings, attachment options, and affordability for your fitness goals?

Throughout this guide we’ll provide a quick overview of some of the best features from each bench, together with some useful metrics to use in comparisons. This includes weight capacity, footprint, and range of incline and decline settings.

XMark XM-4414

Review rating:
Although XMark Fitness offer an impressive collection of weights benches, with various preacher curl and leg extension attachments, the XM-4414 is the only one to include a built-in storage area for dumbbells.

The length of the rack means there’s enough space for several sets of varying sizes, but does mean that you don’t have the same range of incline settings as their FID benches.

However, the compact footprint and impressive 500 lb weight capacity means it’s still one of the strongest weights benches at this price point.

If you think you’ll need anything stronger and are looking for a flat bench that’s easy to move around, we would recommend the XM-7602, which claims a 1500 lb capacity and has built-in transport wheels with a similar sized footprint.

As with all XMark Fitness weights benches, the XM-4414 also features a 2.5″ Hi-density cushion, which has been coated with Duraguard Vinyl to improve durability and comfort during your workout.

XMark XM-4416

Review rating:
The XM-4416 represents XMark’s most affordable decline ab bench, with the exception of their XM-4415 Mini Ab bench, which usually retails for around $80.

The 100+ highly rated reviews on Amazon alone are testament to XMark’s attention to detail and high build quality, with the same high-density cushioning and tear-resistant Duraguard vinyl used as on their FID benches.

You have 12 vertical height adjustments to choose from, each providing a different intensity level for your ab workouts, with ergonomically positioned leg rollers used to limit the stress on your lower back.

The frame itself is constructed from 14-gauge steel, with a 400 lb weight capacity. Although there’s the obvious difference in price, this is twice as much as the Universal UB100 bench can support, and 180 lbs more than the Sit Up Ab bench from Confidence Fitness.

Having this extra weight capacity gives you the ability to make the exercise more challenging by holding onto a dumbbell or weight plate during each rep.

The XMark XM-4416 is the strongest ab bench we’ve reviewed, and exceeds the weight capacity offered we’ve seen on benches from Phoenix, Pure Fitness, Confidence Fitness, and Nautilus.

XMark XM-4417

Review rating:
XMark specialize in several different styles of weights bench, from fixed flat designs and hyperextension chairs to preacher curls and ab benches.

But one of their most popular collections is the Flat Incline Decline (FID) bench, with the XM-4417 being their most affordable.

To help support a wide range of exercises, you have 8 positions to choose from, ranging from decline through to the military position (close to upright). You can also choose from 3 different seat positions to create a strong posture for pressing heavier weights and limit the stress placed on your lower back.

Even the contoured roller pads you use as an ankle lock in the decline position feature 3 settings to help cater for different user heights. Add this to the 2.5″ Hi-density cushioning and 500 lb weight capacity and you have a bench that’s perfect for supporting dumbbell workouts.

The only reason we would be hesitant to recommend the XM-4417 for use in a squat rack or power cage is that there are no transport wheels to make positioning the bench easier. Also, there are stronger XMark weights benches that are much better suited to the task, such as the XM-7472 (has a 1500 lb capacity and transport wheels).

XMark XM-4418

Review rating:
The XM-4418 is similar to the XM-4417 in the sense that it’s a FID bench with a preacher curl attachment, but different in the way the preacher curl is designed.

On the XM-4417 the preacher pad was included, but meant you had to also buy a cambered bar and weight plates if you wanted to use it. The XM-4418 is slightly different, as the attachment uses a curl yoke to support multiple grip positions without the need for a separate barbell.

This is also the first of the XMark Fitness FID benches to feature a leg developer, with padded rollers that can be locked in place to provide an anchor point for your ankles during exercises performed at a decline.

The 200 lb limit on the leg developer/preacher curl provides a challenging level of resistance, with an adapter sleeve included so that you can use either standard or Olympic sized weight plates.

At 500 lbs the weight capacity is the same as the XM-4417, with 8 positions for the back support, 3 for the preacher curl height, and 3 for the seat.

The XM-4418 is also the first XMark weights bench to use the ladder style of back support adjustment, instead of the sliding carriage style seen on the XM-4417. This makes it much quicker to change between the various decline, flat, and incline settings.

XMark XM-4436

Review rating:
The XM-4436 is XMark’s most affordable preacher curl bench, available at a lower price than their XM-7612 model, with the same commercial strength design and high weight capacity.

In fact there are very few differences between the two, and the XM-4436 is actually the only one to feature built-in transport wheels.

Although the most common exercise for a preacher bench is cambered bar curls, it can also support a range of curl variations with straight bars, dumbbells, and even cables. Having the transport wheels makes it much easier to move the bench into position for use with different equipment.

The 2.5″ Hi-density cushioning is slightly thinner than on the XM-7612 (3″ cushioning), but still provides a comfortable platform on which to rest your triceps when performing the exercise.

The height of the preacher curl pad is fully adjustable using a simple locking pin, which helps cater for a variety of user heights, and allows you prevent the back and shoulder muscles from taking over during the curl.

XMark XM-7604

Review rating:
The XM-7604 is the first of the XMark weights benches to feature a 1500 lb weight capacity, which combined with the transport wheels at the front, makes this an excellent choice for use in a squat rack, smith machine, or power cage.

To support this heavier weight, the Duracraft padding is now 3″ thick, which is an upgrade over the 2.5″ density found on the XM-4418.

In terms of adjustment options, you’re given much the same freedom as XMark’s other FID benches, with 7 positions on the back support, 3 positions on the seat, and 4 height settings on the removable T-Bar attachment (used for decline exercises).

To help maintain stability throughout the higher incline positions under heavy weights, XMark favor a horseshoe shaped base design at the front, and an 11 gauge 3″ x 2″ steel construction.

As for the warranty, this is something that works on more of a category level rather than an individual product level. For example, the same warranty applies to all of XMark’s weight benches, which offers lifetime in-home frame coverage and one year on hardware and pop pins.

XMark XM-7630

Review rating:
The XM-7630 is another of the XMark weights benches to carry the full 1500 lb weight capacity, made possible by the 11 gauge 3″ x 2″ steel frame.

Being a FID bench means you can adjust the ladder style back support to any one of 7 positions, as well as choosing from 3 seat angle settings.

To provide added comfort when pressing the heavier weights, XMark have designed the XM-7630 with extra thick 3″ padding, and coated it with Duraguard vinyl to improve durability.

The only downside with this and several of the other XMark FID benches is the gap between the seat and back support cushions. Whether this will be a problem for your workouts very much depends on your personal preference.

Companies such as Star Trac produce FID benches with virtually zero gap between the two sections, but you should expect to pay between $800 and $1200, depending on the specific model.

Unfortunately the XM-7630 doesn’t include any attachment options, and we weren’t able to find any compatible accessories.

XMark XM-7472

Review rating:
As one of XMark’s top-of-the-line models, the XM-7472 really has all the features you could want from a FID weights bench.

In addition to their Power Series XM-9011 bench, this is one of the only designs to feature a one-piece back support section, with no separation between the back and neck supports. However, the XM-9011 is the only one of the two to feature virtually zero distance between this and the seat cushion.

But the XM-7472 certainly has its benefits, with the 1500 lb weight capacity and optional upgrades in the form of the XM-7454 preacher curl attachment and XM-7455 Leg Developer attachment.

If you choose not to use any of the attachments, then it can still be used for dumbbell or barbell workouts, with the transport wheels at the front making it easier to roll into a squat rack or smith machine.

The steel base frame features the familiar horseshoe shaped design that we’ve seen on most XMark benches, with bolt-on skid resistant feet for improved stability.

If you’re wondering which of the XMark benches are upgrades of the XM-7472, you’re really only looking at two main types. These are the Ab Versa/Ab Combo benches, and the Power Series XM-9011, whose main selling point is the U-shaped frame that eliminates the gap between sections and provides better support for your lower back.
