The Ironman Gravity 2000 Inversion Table is an upgrade over the earlier Gravity 1000 model, with vinyl replacing nylon for the back support cover, and a tapering design that allows greater freedom of movement in your arms.
But is there enough of an improvement in terms of features to justify the price difference, and can the frame be folded to reduce its footprint?
These are just a couple of the questions we’ll be answering in this review. We’ll also be making some important comparisons with the higher priced Gravity 4000 model, to help you decide which of these bestselling inversion therapy tables is the right choice for your own home gym.
Design features
If you’ve used an inversion table before, you’ll understand how important it is to find a design with comfortable ankle cushions.
This is something that Ironman have taken into account when creating the Gravity 2000, which has ergonomically designed cushions that hold your ankles securely in position.
Unfortunately there’s no way to control how tightly these lock, meaning that some people with thinner ankles find a thick pair of socks helps reduce any potential for movement.
The frame is very similar to the earlier Gravity 1000 model, with the same scratch-resistant powder-coated finish and tubular stainless steel construction.
This helps create the high 300 lb weight capacity and assist with stability, which is also helped by the tough non-skid rubber feet attached to the lower corners.
As with all Gravity inversion tables, the 2000 model features an adjustable boom with multiple height settings for the back support. This is to ensure you find the perfect height that allows the raising of your arms above your head to start the inversion.
Choose from one of three starting positions
If this is your first time using an inversion therapy table, you may not want to take advantage of the full 180 degree range of motion right away.
Fortunately Ironman have fitted this table with a heavy duty nylon strap on the underside of the back support, which can be used to limit the inversion range to something you’re more comfortable with.
To assist you with returning to the upright position at the end of a session, the Ironman Gravity 2000 has been fitted with extra long non-slip safety handles. These can be used to help pull yourself back to the horizontal position, where the motion of your arms should bring you back to upright.
The actual back support features 2 inches of foam cushioning, covered in a heavy duty vinyl material for increased durability and comfort.
You can also choose from any one of three options for the starting position of the inversion table at the start of your session.

Health benefits of the Gravity 2000
With inversion therapy tables providing such a host of health benefits, we felt it was important to quickly run through some of them, and how they can be achieved in just a few minutes use each day.
- Relieves pressure on discs and ligaments – This is often caused by sitting or standing for extended periods, resulting in compressed discs and contraction of the spinal column.A study published in the Journal of Canadian Chiropractic Association, entitled, “Adaptation of Tilt Table for Lumbar Traction”, found that 88 percent of patients who underwent a series of eight inversion table treatments found major improvements in lower back pain. This included herniated discs, lumbar osteoarthritis with sciatica, and coccygodynia.
- Promotes circulation – When you’re inverted at an angle of up to 180 degrees, your body doesn’t have to work quite so hard to pump blood back up from your feet. This eases the circulation process and increases the amount of oxygen and nutrient rich blood that can be pumped to your brain.
- Rehydrates vertebrae discs – The inversion and act of gravity on shifting pressure off your spine encourages moisture to move into the soft tissue surrounding the discs and increase their nutrient content. This helps to replenish moisture lost from sitting for prolonged periods or performing weight bearing activities.
Inversion therapy tables have also been known to improve flexibility and mobility, reduce stress and fatigue, relax the body, and relieve any pain or stiffness in the lower back.

Ease of assembly and storage options
Despite being significantly simpler in their design, you’re not actually saving much time in the assembly over larger equipment, such as treadmills and ellipticals.
This is because the larger equipment is mostly pre-assembled in the factory prior to delivery, whereas the Ironman Gravity 2000 has a few more moving parts for you to setup.
That being said, Ironman have a reputation for excellent customer service, which carries through into their owner’s manuals.
The instructions include a full parts list, and to help speed things up you’re even given all the tools you need (Phillips screwdriver and double open wrench).
Each step is clearly labelled, with good use of parts references and exploded drawings helping to clarify what’s required.
Because of the similarities in frame styles and assembly instructions, we’re going to recommend the same assembly time as the Gravity 1000, which is 45-60 minutes.
Can it be folded?
Despite their slim frame profile, many people are hesitant about investing in an inversion table due to their large footprint.
It’s true that because of their A-frame design, they are often slightly longer than upright exercise bikes, spin bikes, and even some recumbents.
However, they do have one major advantage.
Because their frame profile is so slim, they can usually be folded flat or broken down fairly quickly and easily to a size that fits under your bed.
But although the Ironman Gravity 2000 is listed as a folding design, there’s certainly a lot more involved than just folding the legs together like you do with some weights benches.
The adjustable nylon strap that limits the range of inversion has to be detached,
Ideally you’ll also want the adjustable boom to be as short as possible, which means sliding the back support down the frame and losing your selected height setting.
Now, as you bear all of this in mind, remember the following:
- Ironman recommend daily use of the Gravity 2000 to see the greatest benefits
- Inversion therapy sessions aren’t typically very long, with many lasting just a few minutes at a time
- You will have to reverse this process each time you want to use the inversion table after having it stored away
I don’t know about you, but whether I’m lifting weights or running on a treadmill, when it’s time to workout I want my equipment to be ready.
We’ve found that difficulty with folding is a problem across the industry though, and not something that’s confined to the Gravity 2000 model specifically.
Key takeaway: Yes this inversion table can lay flat. No we don’t think the effort involved is worth it. Try to ensure you have the space to dedicate to its footprint (26″ W x 49″ L).
Customer reviews
Hopefully we’ve answered any questions you might have had about the Gravity 2000 inversion table. However, if we did happen to miss anything, another excellent resource can be the Amazon reviews section.
Here you’ll be able to put your question to a wide audience of customers who have already bought and used this particular table.
We also understand that not everyone has the time to read through hundreds of reviews, many of which provide very similar feedback. This is why we’ve included a summary of this feedback in our lists of pros and cons below.
With well over 100 reviews on Amazon alone, it’s encouraging to see such a high rating distribution. In fact, we struggled with putting together our list of ‘cons’ below because less than 10% of these were rated below four stars.
That being said, we were able to find a few minor issues that customers had with the features of the Gravity 2000.
Pros:
- Has a history of relieving back and leg pain with just a few minutes use each day, when used as part of a wider fitness routine

Review Overview
Overall Review Rating
4.5 / 5
Overall, for the minimal difference in price we would recommend the Ironman Gravity 2000 for anyone that's new to inversion therapy. This is purely because of the pivot arms creating the three different starting positions, making it a gentler learning curve for beginners.
If you're already used to inversion tables then your best option will probably be to save some money and go with the Gravity 1000 model. They have almost identical frame designs, the same warranty coverage, same weight capacity, and there's very little difference in the footprint.
The low price point has also increased its popularity as a form of therapy for anyone that's facing lengthy spinal traction treatments or compression therapy.
These types of treatments will often cost thousands of dollars, and in some cases won't be covered by insurance, making the Gravity 2000 an attractive option.
