NordicTrack 1750 Commercial Treadmill Review

The NordicTrack 1750 Commercial Treadmill is the entry level model in a collection that also includes the 2450 and top-of-the-line 2950.

NordicTrack’s Commercial series is an upgrade over their C Series, so what can we expect from the entertainment features? Does this mean a wider choice of workout programs?

These are just two of the questions we’ll be answering in this review, while taking a look at the design features, console functions, workout programs, and the benefits of iFit.

We’ll also be making some important comparisons between the 1750 and the upgraded 2450 model, to determine which treadmill represents the best value for money.

Design and safety features

Comparing the NordicTrack 1750 with the top-of-the-line treadmill from their C Series, it’s not just the console that’s seen a major upgrade.

The motor is now a 3.8 CHP DurX Commercial Pro design, up from the 3.25 CHP of the NordicTrack C 1630. Although this doesn’t translate to a higher belt speed or wider incline range, it’s an improvement that results in quicker speed changes if you’re training with intervals.

The decline angles that were only available on the high end models of the C series are now standard, with a motorized 15% incline range through to a 3% decline.

Treadbelt speed remains capped at 12 mph, although this isn’t something we expect to change based on motor power or price. This is a speed that all home treadmills tend to be capped at, whether you’re looking at a design from NordicTrack, Precor, or Sole Fitness.

In terms of the running area, this measures 60″ (L) x 22″ (W), which is wider than the C Series treadmills, but the same length (with the exception of a 55″ length on the entry level C 630).

This remains the same even on the later 2450 and 2950 treadmills, as does the incline range and roller size.
However, there are some improvements to motor power, with the 2450 model rated at 4.0 CHP, and the 2950 model rated at 4.25 CHP. All motors feature dual cooling fans to increase the lifespan of internal components and reduce maintenance, with a lifetime warranty providing added peace of mind.

Having the full length 60″ running surface makes the NordicTrack 1750 perfectly suited to all user heights, allowing you to build up to your full natural running stride.

Advanced running deck design for a cushioned stride
To help reduce the impact on your joints when walking, jogging, or running, Runner’s Flex cushioning has also been built into the running deck, reducing the impact by up to 30%. This can also be switched off if needed, to emulate the feeling of running on the road.

Another feature that standard across NordicTrack’s Commercial treadmill range (but changes with their Elite 9700 Pro model), is the size of the rollers.

At 2.5″ they’re large enough to ensure a smoother, quieter workout experience, with less wear on the 2-ply treadbelt that wraps around them.

Safety features
One final feature we wanted to mention relates to safety. As with all NordicTrack treadmills, their 1750 Commercial model is fitted with a safety key.

If you haven’t used one before, the safety key is two clips joined by a lanyard, with one clip attaching to the console, and the other to an item of clothing. If you were to fall, the clip would detach from the console and the belt would quickly come to a stop.

Console features

The biggest difference between NordicTrack’s Commercial series treadmills and their C series models is the console design.

The backlit LED display screen has been replaced with a 7″ web-enabled, full colour touch screen that lets you catch up on emails, browse the internet, and even check social media profiles while you workout.

Being iFit compatible also means you can select a route or download a workout program, then view your progress via Google Maps’ Street View technology.

The integrated tablet holder has also been attached to the top of the console to keep the screen closer to eye level, allowing you to watch your favourite movies and catch up on TV shows without covering important workout feedback.

Adding to the range of entertainment features, NordicTrack have also fitted their 1750 Commercial model with an iPod compatible port and speakers for listening to your favourite motivational music.

Heart rate monitoring and OneTouch™ controls
If you like to keep track of your heart rate when you’re walking, jogging, or running, this treadmill gives you two options: touch, and telemetry. This means you can either hold onto the CardioGrip touch sensors built into the handles, or wear a wireless chest strap.

There’s even a set of AutoBreeze fans positioned at different heights to help keep you cool and improve your performance during high intensity workouts.

Fan settings are the same as on NordicTrack’s C Series treadmills, with ‘manual’ and ‘auto’ options. Manual lets you set the fans to a specific speed, while ‘auto’ will automatically adjust the fan based on the treadbelt speed.

You also have two options for controlling the belt speed and running deck incline. Minor adjustments can be made using the arrows or plus and minus buttons below the speaker, while larger adjustments can be made via the 1-Touch speed and incline controls.

Positioned along each edge of the console, this lets you quickly switch between 0 and 12 mph on one side, and -3% and 15% incline on the other, which is ideal for HIIT training.

Workout program selection

Having the full colour touch screen instead of the backlit LED means that iFit workouts will probably make up a large proportion of your routine.

But the console also comes loaded with thirty preset workout programs – twenty focussed on calorie burning, and ten all-terrain trails workouts.

Ease of assembly / maintenance required

Assembling the treadmill may only be something that you do once, but it’s nice to know that the process for the NordicTrack 1750 is a lot simpler than for the C 1630 Pro model.

This is mainly because of the difference in hand rail design between the two collections.

With the C Series treadmills you’re threading the console cable from the upright, through the handrail assembly, and connecting it to the console.

Instead, with their Commercial treadmills like the 1750, you can connect the console wire from the upright straight to the console. The hand rail is then mounted on top of the console, cutting down on the time it takes to get setup.

You’re also getting more of the treadmill pre-assembled for you, with the console and running deck arriving as individually complete units. This means you don’t need to spend time setting up the pulse crossbar and storage trays the way you would if you bought the NordicTrack C 1630 Pro.

The user manual features clear diagrams and a written explanation for each step, as well as a part identification chart and series of exploded drawings. This results in a recommended assembly time of 45 to 60 minutes.

Maintenance required
When you’re spending this kind of money on a treadmill, there’s going to be a certain level of ongoing maintenance required.

This usually means checking the treadbelt is lubricated and centered every few months or if you notice signs of movement or wear.

However, as with their C 990 model, the treadbelt for the NordicTrack 1750 has already been coated with a high-performance lubricant. The manual also advises against spraying the belt with any silicone lubricants to prevent excessive wear.

Folding and transport options
Unlike Precor, NordicTrack’s entire collection of treadmills can be folded to some degree, reducing their footprint and making them easier to transport if needed.

To help make this process easier, EasyLift Assist has been fitted to the NordicTrack 1750. This means a hydraulic dampening spring does most of the heavy lifting, although you’ll still need to be able to lift around 45 lbs.

With the running deck in its folded position, a latch knob locks the deck in place until you’re ready for your next workout. You can then release the latch knob and hold onto the frame of the deck as it slowly lowers to the ground.
