Top 10 Fitness Company Blogs

Although the frequency of article posting is usually not as high as with some of our fitness and strength bloggers, there are still a number of high quality blogs maintained by some of the world’s leading fitness equipment and wearable tech companies that are certainly worth a read.

Whether they’ve been in business since the early days of the fitness industry, or even started their blog while products were still in development, we’ve recognized the following 10 fitness company blogs as being some of the best in the world in terms of product quality, design innovation, posting frequency, and article quality.

1. Bowflex

Bowflex Insider

After marketing their first fitness product in 1986, Bowflex have grown into one of the best known names for home fitness equipment.

Using a combination of polymer rods to create the resistance instead of bulky weight stacks, a number of home gyms have since been released, proving incredibly popular.

But Bowflex have also found success with other weightlifting equipment, such as their bestselling weights benches and innovative adjustable dumbbell design.

Away from the fitness equipment side of things, you’ll also find Bowflex Insider – a site dedicated to providing a wide range of challenging and effective strength and cardio workouts, recipe ideas, and news on the latest fitness developments.

There’s also a couple of regular article / video series’; Friday Fives, and Fit Tip Thursday – written by Tom Holland. Tom is actually an exercise physiologist, author of several fitness books, and an elite endurance athlete, completing 21 Ironman triathlons and 60 marathons to date.

Rather than focussing solely on promoting their own clothing line, you’ll actually be able to find a variety of interesting articles about all aspects of a healthy lifestyle, including nutrition, fitness, and wellness.

If you enjoy your running, you’ll be happy to know that there’s an entire collection of articles dedicated to competitive racing, training, and the perfect pre-running nutrition.

Many of the writers are experienced marathon runners, yoga instructors, or cross country teachers themselves, and regularly team up to take on some of the world’s most respected fitness events, including the Chicago and New York marathons.

Despite the recent influx of wearable devices to the personal fitness tracking market, Fitbit remain one of the most dominant companies out there, with their current product line of the Flex, Zip, and One gathering thousands of highly rated reviews.

Both the Flex and the One models can not only track your activity during the day, but also monitor your sleep patterns at night, even waking you with a silent alarm if required.

Using a low energy Bluetooth also enables a wireless sync of your fitness and sleep data to your computer, iOS device, and Android, creating dashboards of data that are easy to interpret and benefit from.

In terms of the blog itself, although the design looks incredibly modern, there have actually been articles being posted since September 2008, with a short post that said they would be announcing the Fitbit at the TechCrunch 50 event.

What’s exciting is that these blog posts don’t just provide you with some essential health and fitness information, but also allow you to follow the story of the company as it’s grown into what it is today.

This includes everything from funding rounds to the algorithms behind Fitbit, how the packaging and website were designed, and even pictures and video of the assembly process behind the 120+ parts that made up the early prototypes.

Not sure what to eat after a workout? There’s an entire section on post workout meals and snacks, complete with recipes to give you some added inspiration.

If you’re planning on investing in a piece of equipment from Precor, you’ll probably find their fitness equipment space planner invaluable. It’s quick and easy to create a virtual floor plan of your room, where you can then choose from treadmills, motion trainers, bikes, and much more to see how much free space you would be left with once it’s in position.


5. ProForm

If you’ve ever done any research into buying a new treadmill, elliptical, or hybrid trainer, you’re probably already familiar with the Pro-Form name.

In terms of integrating technology into the display consoles for their cardiovascular fitness equipment, they’re certainly one of the most experienced companies. This is mainly thanks to a wide range of their machines being designed with iFit enabled (a suite of powerful online training tools).

But you also have a huge number of benefits in the design of the equipment itself, with many of their treadmills receiving annual upgrades to ensure they always provide the highest spec available.

Turning to the blog itself, there’s definitely more of a focus on training than there is on nutrition. That being said, this is actually a great site for taking in lots of useful fitness information in a very short time.

Each article shows you how long it will take to read before you even click on it, with visual content such as infographics being used to get important points across more quickly.

The blog is also home to a number of interesting interviews with some extremely successful runners and athletes, including one with American half marathon record holder, Ryan Hall.


6. Precision Nutrition

Although you might be more familiar with Precision Nutrition through their extensive 1-on-1 health and fitness coaching, which has helped over 200,000 people over the past 15 years, they also have a blog with some truly exceptional articles.

They cover a wide range of topics too, from the best way to go about starting your own business as a personal trainer, to infographics describing what needs to be done to achieve and maintain your target level of fitness.

You’ll also find a couple of useful (and free) online nutrition seminars from Dr John Beradi, founder of Precision Nutrition and experienced teacher of Exercise Science, Fitness and Wellness, and Exercise Nutrition at University level, as well as their very own Certification Program.

There are a number of different certifications to suit various experience levels, together with articles on how to get your own career started in the fitness industry as a personal trainer or fitness coach.

Their treadmills in particular are frequently ranked as some of the highest rated, bestselling home fitness machines on well known ecommerce sites, such as Amazon.

But as well as producing a high quality range of affordable fitness machines, since early 2012, Sole have also maintained a blog filled with useful training advice, healthy lifestyle choices, and ways to make your training more efficient.

Although you will inevitably find a number of reviews for their treadmills and ellipticals, from October 2013 onwards the focus has been almost entirely on more general health and nutrition topics, such as the perfect post workout meals, and the best running trails in America.

They also feature a monthly roundup of their favourite pins, which can be healthy resources, motivational quotes, or interesting articles from the previous month.


8. Nike

As you might expect from the Nike blog, almost every article is based around their newest releases, complete with high quality photos and expected release dates for the latest Air Jordans.

It’s important to mention that this isn’t actually Nike’s official blog – it’s a fan site, but we really appreciate the level of quality that goes into the content, and believe going to be a lot of people out there who can benefit from their advice.

In addition to the news and written content, you’ll also find a number of high quality images showcasing upcoming products. Far from being a site solely based around Jordans, you also get the chance to look at a selection of new apparel for sports, including:

Rather than relying on external content writers to put together articles on health and fitness, each post that you read on this blog has actually been written by adidas Group employees.

These are people who are passionate about every aspect of your health and fitness, as well as the company that they work for. This gives you the unique opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at what type of work goes into building one of the leading global fitness and apparel companies.

The Life Fitness blog is also well established, having been created in early 2012 to provide an insight into not just the benefits of using their equipment, but also an overview of some of the processes involved in developing product ranges like the Insignia Series.

Each of the categories contains a wide range of content that can be beneficial to your own personal health and fitness, even giving you the opportunity to follow and participate in some unique events, including ‘Personal Trainers To Watch’ and the inaugural Fitness in Motion 8k race.

You’ll also find coverage of industry events such as the FIBO fitness industry tradeshow, where you can read about the latest developments and innovations in the fitness equipment that you could be using in the future.
