Dymatize Creatine includes 5 g of pure creatine monohydrate per serving, with 200 servings in a 1kg tub for around $20. But is pure micronized creatine the best option if you’re looking to gain strength, boost recovery, and improve endurance, or should you buy a combined creatine/pre-workout supplement, packed with vitamins, caffeine, BCAAs and creatine?

In this review we take a look at how much money you could save by stacking Dymatize Creatine with the Dymatize BCAA complex, compared to buying an all-in-one muscle builder, such as MuscleTech Cell Tech.

To guarantee you only buy the best creatine for your fitness and strength goals, we’ve also included comparisons between the ingredients, dosages, loading phases, purity, and any reported side effects.

If you’re training for a specific goal, such as increasing muscle size or strength (bodybuilding, powerlifting, CrossFit, etc.), you might want to jump straight to our supplement stack recommendations. This is where we look at the best BCAA, pre-workout, and post-workout supplements to use alongside Dymatize Creatine for maximum results.

Dymatize Creatine Ingredients

Dymatize Creatine Ingredients

A quick look at the label for Dymatize Creatine certainly makes it sound impressive. Manufactured in a NSF GMP certified facility, laboratoy tested for quality and purity, and follows the ‘strict International Molecular Formula’.

But does it really work? What does this all mean for your training?

Firstly, we should point out that the International Molecular Formula isn’t anything specific to Dymatize. It’s the standard scientific formula for creatine monohydrate. This is different to the Creapure® creatine (99.95% pure), which is manufactured by AlzChem and found in Optimum Nutrition Creatine powder.

The fact that it’s produced in a GMP facility is reassuring, but doesn’t boost the quality of the powder. It simply means the facility follows good manufacturing practices, such as ensuring the strength and purity of ingredients that appear on product labels.

Backed by science

Creatine monohydrate is one of the most heavily researched health supplements in the world. In short, there’s no shortage of studies proving it works!

One study, published in the Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research, found that lean body mass increased at a greater rate for athletes supplementing with creatine monohydrate compared to placebo. Significant improvements in initial rate of power production were also noted. This was following a loading phase of 0.3 g creatine per kg of bodyweight for 7 days, followed by 7 weeks at 0.03 g creatine per kg of bodyweight.

A separate study found similar results, testing the difference between pre and post-workout creatine supplementation. This research concluded that creatine supplementation combined with resistance training increase fat-free mass and strength. They also found consuming creatine post-workout was superior to a pre-workout dose.

Good value for money?

Dymatize Creatine represents excellent value for money, but only if you’re buying the largest 1 kg tub. This cuts the cost-per-serving considerably ($0.09) compared to the 300 g or 500 g tubs.

At the time of writing this review, a 1 kg tub of Dymatize Creatine had a lower cost-per-serving than MuscleTech, MusclePharm, and Optimum Nutrition, amongst others.

What size is the best value?

With a serving size of 5 grams, each tub provides you with either 60, 100 or 200 servings. Following a recommended daily dose of 5 grams pre and post-workout, this should last for:

  • 3 workouts per week: 10 weeks / 16 weeks / 32 weeks
  • 4 workouts per week: 7.5 weeks / 12.5 weeks / 25 weeks

At the time of writing this review, the best value for money comes from the 1kg tub. Each serving was priced at $0.09, compared to $0.14 per serving for the 300g and 500g tubs. That’s why we always recommend calculating the average cost per serving, across all sizes, before making a final buying decision.

Creatine Powder Buying Guide

Review Overview

Overall Review Rating

4.5 / 5

Dymatize has one of the cheapest creatine monohydrate powders on the market, with a clinically proven 5 g per serving costing just $0.09 (based on 1 kg tub).

The unflavored powder doesn’t have a bad taste on its own, but also doesn’t affect the taste of whey protein powders or pre-workout drinks. Being in powder form also makes it much more versatile than powders or tablets.

Optimum Nutrition has a similar product that also delivers 5 g of creatine for around $0.10 per serving (1 kg tub), but with Creapure® instead of plain monohydrate.

Overall, Dymatize Creatine represents excellent value for money, with the 1 kg tub recommended. It’s not blended with any BCAAs or L-glutamine either, so you’re able to split timings and doses better than an all-in-one muscle builder like Vintage Build.
