Dymatize Creatine Ingredients
A quick look at the label for Dymatize Creatine certainly makes it sound impressive. Manufactured in a NSF GMP certified facility, laboratoy tested for quality and purity, and follows the ‘strict International Molecular Formula’.
But does it really work? What does this all mean for your training?
Firstly, we should point out that the International Molecular Formula isn’t anything specific to Dymatize. It’s the standard scientific formula for creatine monohydrate. This is different to the Creapure® creatine (99.95% pure), which is manufactured by AlzChem and found in Optimum Nutrition Creatine powder.
The fact that it’s produced in a GMP facility is reassuring, but doesn’t boost the quality of the powder. It simply means the facility follows good manufacturing practices, such as ensuring the strength and purity of ingredients that appear on product labels.
Backed by science
Creatine monohydrate is one of the most heavily researched health supplements in the world. In short, there’s no shortage of studies proving it works!
One study, published in the Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research, found that lean body mass increased at a greater rate for athletes supplementing with creatine monohydrate compared to placebo. Significant improvements in initial rate of power production were also noted. This was following a loading phase of 0.3 g creatine per kg of bodyweight for 7 days, followed by 7 weeks at 0.03 g creatine per kg of bodyweight.
A separate study found similar results, testing the difference between pre and post-workout creatine supplementation. This research concluded that creatine supplementation combined with resistance training increase fat-free mass and strength. They also found consuming creatine post-workout was superior to a pre-workout dose.
Good value for money?
Dymatize Creatine represents excellent value for money, but only if you’re buying the largest 1 kg tub. This cuts the cost-per-serving considerably ($0.09) compared to the 300 g or 500 g tubs.
At the time of writing this review, a 1 kg tub of Dymatize Creatine had a lower cost-per-serving than MuscleTech, MusclePharm, and Optimum Nutrition, amongst others.
