MET-Rx Creatine 4200 is packed with 4,200 mg (4.2g) of HPLC Pure Creatine Monohydrate powder per 6-capsule serving. But how does this differ to the bestselling pure creatine monohydrate powder from Bulk Supplements?
HPLC stands for High Pressure Liquid Chromatography, which is a method of removing impurities and by-products to ensure the high purity rating is maintained. Splitting the creatine monohydrate into the smallest possible particles guarantees faster absorption into your bloodstream after ingestion, which is beneficial for powerlifting, bodybuilding, CrossFit, and general fitness workouts.
In this review we’ll compare the dosage, loading phase, price, and ingredients in MET-Rx Creatine 4200 to other top rated creatine powders and capsules. We’ve purposely included two ‘all-in-one’ creatine products (MuscleTech Cell Tech and BPI Sports Best Creatine) to consider the pre-workout energy boost and post-workout muscular recovery benefits. It will also help determine which type of creatine provides the best value for money.
MET-Rx Creatine 4200 ingredients
Recently we’ve started seeing a trend towards ‘all-in-one’ strength and recovery supplements. This is where creatine monohydrate is combined with L-glutamine and BCAAs, such as with Vintage Build 3-in-1 from Old School Labs.
The problem with these is that you don’t have the same control over timing and dosages. For example, if you only want to take creatine pre-workout but BCAAs in a post-workout recovery drink, you can’t split them apart.
That’s where products like MET-Rx Creatine 4200 come in useful.
Creatine capsules vs. powder
Available in rapid release capsules, you can be certain you’re getting the same dose each time. There’s no need to measure out powder, which makes it a more convenient option if you need to carry a dose with you for a midday training session.
However, the extra manufacturing that needs to be done to package the powder inside capsules comes at a cost. At the time of writing this review, Creatine 4200 was twice as expensive as Optimum Nutrition Creatine Powder, even if you bought the larger 240-capsule bottle.
Not only that, but the dosage of creatine was less (4.2 g vs. 5 g). To make the capsules MET-Rx have also had to use gelatin, which is commonly used in the production of supplement capsules, but derived from various animal body parts. This makes Creatine 4200 unsuitable for vegetarians and vegans.

MET-Rx vs. BPI Sports Best Creatine
What size is the best value?
MET-Rx Creatine 4200 comes in two different sized bottles; 120 capsules, and 240 capsules. Because each serving is 6 capsules, even the larger bottle only gives you 40 servings, which is more than enough for a 1 month supply.
At the time of writing this review, the best value for money comes from the bottle of 240 capsules. Each serving was priced at $0.24, compared to $0.89 per serving with the smaller 120 count bottle. That’s why we always recommend calculating the average cost per serving, across all sizes, before making a final buying decision.
Save money with Amazon
If you’re looking to save money on your monthly supplement order, you might want to consider the Amazon Subscribe & Save program.
Subscribe & Save allows you to unlock savings of up to 15% on a wide range of sports nutrition products, including MET-Rx Creatine 4200.
You can save 5% with a subscription to 1 product, or save the full 15% by subscribing to 5 products, provided they’re all delivered to the same address. The delivery schedule can be set from monthly, up to once every 6 months.
Although 5 products might sound a lot, if you already supplement with a protein powder, multivitamin, creatine, BCAA, and glutamine, the savings can soon add up. But it’s best to order before you run out of your current supplements, because Amazon set the day of the month each order is sent (same day each month e.g. 14th.).
Who are MET-Rx?
MET-Rx has been a market leader in sports nutrition for over 20 years. Their reputation has been built on delivering high quality supplements, such as protein bars, RTDs, protein powders, multivitamins, amino acids, and creatine.
Some of the current bestsellers include Natural Whey Protein Powder, Creatine 4200, and the MET-Rx Protein Plus bar, each of which has over 500 highly rated reviews on Amazon.
MET-Rx is also well known for its meal replacement powders (MRPs). The first version required you to mix powder from two canisters; one labelled ‘base’ and their other ‘plus’. This was later released as a single product, where the micellar casein component was removed.
Today, the MET-Rx meal replacement powder remains one of their most popular supplements. Each serving contains 3g of L-Glutamine, 38g of Metamyosyn protein, and more than 6g of BCAAs.
