If you’re looking for a low cost way to perform effective cardio workouts from home, the Sunny Air Walk Trainer with its compact design and folding frame could be exactly what you need.
In this product review, we take a look at how this simple piece of fitness equipment has quickly become one of the bestselling ellipticals on Amazon. This includes the customer reviews, design features, and display console functions.
Design features
The Sunny Air Walk Trainer is designed to put your body through a similar range of motion to a rear driven elliptical, or Gazelle Edge Glider.
The abdominal pad is provided to act as a cushion to press your upper body against if you need a little extra stability during your workout, and is completely height adjustable.
The ergonomically designed coated handles have been extended to provide a greater workout for your upper body, which also makes it much easier to build up to faster movements.
Unlike your traditional elliptical, there are no incline or resistance speed settings available. The resistance and movement is entirely generated using your own bodyweight and momentum.
But with a weight capacity of 220 lb, this does leave some room to attach ankle or wrist weights to help make the exercise a bit more challenging.
When you complete your workout, you can even fold the frame away to make the most of limited space when you’re not training.
The low impact workout that this Air Walk Trainer provides is ideal for anyone that’s new to fitness, or simply looking for a low cost machine to use at home, that supplements their existing commercial gym workouts.
Sunny Air Walk Trainer – Features Summary
- Delivers a serious cardio workout for full body toning
- Delivers a comfortable, no-impact workout
- Comfort abdominal support pad
- Completely smooth and quiet
- For all fitness levels and ages
- Computer provides time, count, total distance, calories.
Display console functions

When you take into account the price that you’re paying for the Sunny Air Walk Trainer, the fact that there’s a display console at all is a major bonus.
Unfortunately there aren’t any preset workout programs, due to the fact that there are no speed settings and the resistance is completely self-generated.
As with most of the lower priced entry level air walkers and ellipticals, the console features a simple design, with just a single function button and LCD screen.
The function button lets you scroll through various workout statistics and reset the counts if required, while the screen keeps you updated with your time, stride count, distance, and calories burned.
As with any cardio machine that doesn’t prompt you to enter you age, the calculation to work out the number of calories burned is unlikely to be accurate, but this is to be expected from an air walk trainer at this price point.
Ease of assembly
Unlike their higher priced equivalent, lower priced cardio equipment often tends to already be mostly pre-assembled upon delivery.
After unboxing the different parts, you’ll find the main frame, foot pedals, and base stabilizers have already been put together. This leaves just the abdominal support pad, arms, and display console left to be attached.
The assembly instructions aren’t as comprehensive as some of the user manuals we’ve come across for similar fitness equipment, but in truth they really don’t need to be.
Using a series of photos, it takes just a single page to cover the complete assembly, without any sign of an exploded drawing.
Combining the images with some basic textual explanations and part references does help, and results in an assembly time of less than 30 minutes.
Customer reviews
Despite the lack of preset workout programs and display console functions, the Sunny Air Walk Trainer has actually proven to be one of the highest rated and bestselling elliptical trainers available online.
With Amazon alone being home to over 150 reviews and dozens of answered customer questions, there’s no doubting the popularity of this trainer for the price and features it offers.
Although the full reviews are of course available on Amazon, with so many to read through it can prove to be a time consuming process.
That’s why we’ve done much of the reading for you, and put together lists of pros and cons based on the points most frequently mentioned by reviewers.
Pros:
- Abdominal support pad provides added support and stability throughout your workout
- Basic feedback of your most important workout statistics is provided through the LCD screen
- Compact footprint makes it suitable for home gyms with limited space
- Moving handles recruit upper body muscle groups, creating a full body workout
- Folds away for storage
- Lightweight frame makes it easy to move around if required
- Low impact movement and having your feet constantly resting on the pedals protects your lower back and joints from strain or injury
- Oversized footplates prevent your feet from slipping at higher training intensities
- Low profile makes it easy to step on and off the pedals
- Ideal for anyone looking for a low impact form of exercise for rehab work or musculoskeletal pain
Cons:
- Being powered by your own movement makes it difficult to track changes in resistance
- Lack of preset workout programs
- Lower weight capacity than similar gliders
- Some people feel restricted by the abdominal pad, although this can be quickly removed if you experience the same issue
What’s covered by the warranty?
Unlike some of the higher priced cardio machines that offer lifetime frame warranties and 5 year coverage on the parts, the Sunny Air Walk Trainer warranty is limited to just 30 days.
Due to the low price, most people don’t tend to find this an issue, and with Sunny already having developed a reputation for designing high quality fitness equipment, this trainer is surprisingly resilient.
Review Overview
Overall Review Rating
4.5 / 5
Designed to provide a lower impact workout than treadmills or running outside, the benefits of using an air walker are similar to the benefits of using an elliptical.
With a movement that's not so different from the Gazelle Edge Glider, the Sunny Air Walk Trainer offers a compact, lightweight, convenient, and effective way to workout from home, without having to spend thousands of dollars on a machine.
Although the display console feedback is limited, the stride count and distance can still be used to set achievable goals, and measure improvements in your fitness level over time.
