The Stud Bar Ceiling Mountable Pull Up Bar is available for 3 different ceiling heights: 8-foot (small), 9-foot (standard), and 10-foot (large). The only difference between the three is the length of the risers.
Whereas the Ultimate Body Press version is designed to span a single 24-inch joist gap, this is designed to span two, with 48 inches between mounting points.
If your ceilings are tall enough, the riser height gives you enough space to perform kipping pull ups and muscle ups. These are two types of pull up that can’t be performed with a doorway pull up bar.
The standard and large versions of the Stud Bar have two height settings to choose from, to create the best reach and range of motion for your height.
Unfortunately, as with most ceiling pull up bars, there isn’t any padding for your grip. If you’re worried about your hands slipping off the bar, you can always use weightlifting gloves or chalk. Not having any foam also has its advantages, as you don’t have to worry about it moving during the exercise, or wearing out over time.
Stud Bar vs. Titan Fitness Pull Up Bar – Which is Stronger?
In terms of the weight capacity, at 600 lbs, it’s stronger than the Titan Fitness Stud Mounted Pull Up Bar, which has a limit of 500 lbs.
The Titan Fitness version is designed for 9-foot ceilings, but still has multiple bar height settings, and is available for less than half the price of the Stud Bar.

Assembly and Installation
The Stud Bar gives you two installation options: Wood Stud, or Metal Stud. Either way, you’ll need to drive lag bolts into studs using an electric drill, after pre-drilling deep pilot holes.

Tip: Don’t drive or over torque lag bolts by hand using a ratchet. This can over-torque and break lag bolts.
As a single, straight pull up bar, you might think the Stud Bar supports fewer exercises than a doorway pull up bar.
This is only partly true.
Unfortunately, you don’t have the neutral grip position, so there’s no neutral grip pull ups. It also requires fixing to the ceiling or wall, so you can’t put it on the floor for push ups or dips.
However, the 600 lb weight capacity is exceptional. If your studs are strong enough, you can perform weighted pull ups with a vest or dip belt. Due to the height of the risers, you also have the option to perform kipping pull ups.
So, while it may not be as versatile as a doorway pull up bar, you can still train your biceps, shoulders, abs, and back muscles. It’s also a better investment for the long-term, if strength is your goal and you have the space.
