Brain Power Plus Omega 3 provides you with 1,500 mg of omega-3, with 800 mg of EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid), 600 mg of DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid), and 100 mg of other Omega-3 fatty acids per serving.
This is the same ingredient list and dosage levels as BodyVega Omega 3, but with 10 more calories in every serving (2 softgels). Both are bestselling omega 3 supplements, with over 1,000 reviews on Amazon, so what makes them different?
In this review we’ll compare Brain Power Plus Omega 3 to two other top-rated fish oil supplements; Dr. Tobias Omega 3 Fish Oil, and Viva Naturals Omega 3 Fish Oil. This includes the price, dosages, ingredients, cost per serving, and customer feedback.
Combining the EPA and DHA long-chain omega-3 fatty acids with Vitamin D amplifies the health benefits, such as boosting optimum brain function and regulating serotonin levels in the brain. That’s why we’ve also added recommendations for Vitamin D supplements, which can be safely combined with Brain Power Plus Omega 3.
Brain Power Plus Omega 3 Ingredients
Brain Power Plus Omega-3 is one of the bestselling fish oil supplements on Amazon, so what makes it so unique?
The combination of ingredients is what we would expect from omega-3 softgels, but the high dose of EPA and DHA is certainly impressive. The 800 mg of EPA and 600 mg of DHA you get in each serving is more than most supplement companies provide, including Coromega, Nordic Naturals, NOW Foods, and Nature Made.
BodyVega has a supplement that has the exact same ingredient list and dosage levels. So how which product is more affordable?
At the time of writing this review, BodyVega was the cheapest option, with a price of $0.22 per serving. That was compared to $0.28 for Brain Power Plus Omega-3.
What are EPA and DHA?
Both are long-chain omega-3 fatty acids that are found naturally in fish and shellfish. They’re typically derived from cold-water fish, such as mackerel, sardines, and tuna, but DHA can also be derived from algae. This is the form used to create omega-3 supplements suitable for vegetarians, such as Neuromins.
Numerous health benefits have been attributed to omega-3 fatty acids, including improvements in cognitive and cardiovascular health (coronary heart disease).
Suitable for vegetarians and vegans?
The short answer is no. EPA and DHA are typically derived from fish and shellfish, but you also have gelatin in the softgels, which is derived from animal products.
Thankfully, a third omega-3 fatty acid is also available in the form of alpha-linoleic acid (ALA). This isn’t included in Brain Power Plus Omega-3, but can be purchased as a separate supplement. We recommend Doctor’s Best Alpha-Lipoic Acid 600, which is suitable for vegans and uses vegetarian capsules.
This is often recommended to vegetarians as ALA can be derived from foods such as flaxseed oil and chia seeds. Once ingested, ALA acts as a precursor to EPA and DHA. There’s also data to suggest ALA is beneficial for cardiovascular health.
In one study, patients with myocardial infraction supplemented with 2.9 g/day of ALA. After one year, cardiac death and nonfatal myocardial infraction were significantly lower in the ALA group compared to placebo.

Brain Power Plus vs. Coromega Omega-3
What sizes are available?
With a serving size of 2 softgels, each bottle provides you with 90 servings. By following the recommended daily dose, this should be enough to last 3 months (90 days).
At the time of writing this review, each serving was priced at around $0.28. While this may sound affordable, it’s worth remembering Nature’s Bounty Fish Oil is priced closer to $0.05 per serving. That’s why we always recommend calculating the average cost per serving, across all sizes, before making a final buying decision.
